The Utah Jazz have faced some tough competition early this season, but still feature the eighth best offensive and defensive net rating (5.8) in the NBA. They own a bad loss against the Memphis Grizzlies, who have played surprisingly well this season. With that being said, they also took the Golden State Warriors to the limit, while easily dispatching the Houston Rockets and New Orleans Pelicans, although they were dealing with injuries/suspensions. They get a matchup against the Minnesota Wolves, who have struggled against higher end competition this season. They rank 20th in the NBA in net off and def rating (-3.6), although they are coming off of a big win against the Los Angeles Lakers. They could potentially see Andrew Wiggins return to the lineup tonight, but I still feel Utah can keep up with their offense, while featuring a significantly better defense.

The Detroit Pistons have grown accustomed to close games in 2018. Their first three wins were by a combined six points. They also lost to the Boston Celtics by only three points last night. They only rank 17th in the NBA in net off and def rating (-1.3), which doesn’t exactly coincide with their 4-2 record. They get a matchup against the Brooklyn Nets, who rank 21st in the league in net off and def rating (-4.1), but have kept games close against some of the best teams in the league. They lost to the New Orleans Pelicans and Golden State Warriors by a combined eight points. They have also been blown out by the Indiana Pacers and New York Knicks, though. The Pistons have the type of team – dominant big men – that is designed to beat Brooklyn. They beat them earlier this season, and they’re worth betting again at plus odds.
