What’s up Karma Nation! Welcome to another edition of my Value Plays article. In this article, I will be focusing solely on DraftKings. Value is mainly determined by two things: injury news or lazy pricing. A player could be underpriced because salaries came before injury news. A site can also be lazy and not raise the price of a player who has been playing way above their price, and getting the minutes to prove it’s sustainable.
If you are familiar with NBA DFS you know the best value could open up minutes before the slate locks. So, make sure to check back later in the day, the best value plays for the slate may change depending on if we get injury news we were not expecting or that we were waiting for all day. I will be providing an update at the bottom of the article if there is a need for it. There will be times we receive news less than an hour before lock, that is where it is vital to join our discord for free. Whether it is on the free side or the premium side there will always be people discussing injury news and how it has impacted the slate.
Precious Achiuwa $3,100:
This is going to be the 76ers/Heat slate tonight. As both teams will be without a majority of their starting lineup and bench. Forcing normal bench players into much bigger roles. Something that the sites have not fully adjusted for. The Heat will be without Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, Goran Dragic, Avery Bradley, Udonis Haslem, Kendrick Nunn, and KZ Okpala. This leaves the perfect opportunity for the Heat to feature the 20th overall pick, Achiuwa. He hasn’t seen much run this season, topping 20 minutes just once this season. He is projecting just shy of 30 minutes tonight and is averaging 0.96 fantasy points per minute he is a must-have in your lineups tonight. The 76ers will be featuring a ton of backups as well so I am not really worried about defense.
The projections portal is showing Precious Achiuwa as the second-best value play on the slate and projected for 25.53 fantasy points. As well as, popping up in 19 out of 20 optimal cash lines according to our optimizer.
Andre Iguodala $3,300:
Iggy will be back in the spotlight tonight, as he hasn’t really been relevant in this offense this season. This is a gross value I really don’t want to play but it is someone we will most likely have to. He has started two games this season but hasn’t played more than 20 minutes in either start. This game should be different as the Heat don’t have much bench presence tonight. Iggy should be in store for his highest minute total and usage rate of the season tonight.
The projections portal is showing Andre Iguodala as a great value play and projected for 23.87 fantasy points. As well as, popping up in 5 out of 20 optimal cash lines according to our optimizer.
Dakota Mathias $3,900:
Mathias is coming off back-to-back 39+ minute games and looks like he will be in store for another 39+ minute game tonight. Last night the 76ers were involved in a blowout loss against the Hawks, but there is little issue of blowout tonight on the Philly side as they will be going up against another team that will be missing half their team; the Heat. The 76ers are actually 7 point favorites as well tonight. So if anyone is getting blown out it is the Heat. The good news is that doesn’t matter with Mathias as he plays all the blowout minutes for the 76ers and the only starter to do so.
Mathias is averaging 14 FGAs per game in his two games as a starter and adds assists to the stat sheet as well. If he continues scoring at this pace he will easily hit value again tonight.
