What’s up Karma Nation! Welcome to another edition of my Value Plays article. In this article, I will be focusing solely on DraftKings. Always remember, the value on DraftKings is not always the value on FanDuel or any other site you are playing on. If you haven’t signed up for core plays yet. make sure to do so by clicking HERE. We have daily, weekly, monthly, and season-long packages. You can try us out for as little as $5!
Value is mainly determined by two things: injury news or lazy pricing. A player could be underpriced because salaries came before injury news. A site can also be lazy and not raise the price of a player who has been playing way above their price, and getting the minutes to prove it’s sustainable.
If you are familiar with NBA DFS you know the best value could open up minutes before the slate locks. So, make sure to check back later in the day, the best value plays for the slate may change depending on if we get injury news we were not expecting or that we were waiting for all day. I will be providing an update at the bottom of the article if there is a need for it. There will be times we receive news less than an hour before lock, that is where it is vital to join our discord for free. Whether it is on the free side or the premium side there will always be people discussing injury news and how it has impacted the slate.
Tyrese Maxey $4,700:
The 76ers are missing everyone. They are missing; Ben Simmons, Tobias Harris, Seth Curry, Shake Milton, Forkan Kormaz, Matisse Thybulle, and Mike Scott. Scott had to be “active” last game in order for this game to even play out. I’m glad DK priced these guys up at least a little so they aren’t 100% owned, maybe he will be 90% owned instead. Maxey is coming off a 44-minute game where he put up 61 DK points on 33 FGAs. Finishing the game with 39 points and a 31% usage rate. The 76ers will be getting Joel Embiid back tonight so I am not expecting another 33 FG game, but he can easily top 20 FGs and a 25% usage rate while playing another 30-35 minutes. He is a lock bottom for me at the moment.
The projections portal is showing Maxey as the second-best value play on the slate. As well as, popping up in 20 out of 20 optimal cash lines according to our optimizer.
Isaiah Joe $4,100:
Another Philly player I will be looking at for value today is Isaiah Joe. Coming off a poor shooting performance, shooting 4-18 he will likely be needed to shoot at a similar rate tonight. The 76ers even though they are getting back Joel Embiid still have very little depth at guard, so these two guys will be forced to play 35+ minutes. Trae Young is leading the league in FTAs, so the 76ers just need to pray none of them get into foul trouble.
While not the best value play on the slate, the projections portal is showing Joe as one of the better value play on the slate. As well as, popping up in 9 out of 20 optimal cash lines according to our optimizer.
Isaac Okoro $3,600:
Okoro is doing his best job sprinting up and down the court. He has played 34+ minutes in all but one game this season and has only cracked 20 DK points once this season, while putting up single-digit fantasy points twice. You don’t need a guy like him as value tonight with all the Philly value but if you are looking for a pivot he is worth a shot. The number 5 overall pick hasn’t shown any flashes of why he was a top 5 pick in such a stacked draft but with Garland and Exum out and potentially Sexton out again. We could see another opportunity for a breakout game from him. The Cavs need someone to step up to score and against a bad Memphis defense, this is as good a time as any. In the last two games where both Garland and Sexton were out, he saw a season-high 14% usage rate compared to his normal 6 to 9% usage rate. So the path to success is open, he just needs to take advantage of it.
