What is up Karma Nation! Welcome to the very first edition of NBA tailored specifically for Yahoo. If you guys have not seen what Yahoo has been doing, they are investing a ton of money on their DFS platform and providing tons of overlay on NBA and NFL. If you don’t have an account I suggest you create one ASAP using the following link: http://dfsyahoo.com/
For those who don’t know me, I have been a DFS player for 5 years and I learned a ton of painful lessons in my first couple years and now I have three years being profitable. I play all of the DFS sports but NBA, NFL, and Soccer are definitely my strongest sports. This article I intend to make it very easy to digest, breaking down my top three plays per position, one top, middle, and one value option; identical to the Hat-trick I write for English Premier League. If you have any comments or suggestions please reach out to me on Twitter @FrostyDFS.
And now, for our first ever article we get an AMAZING slate. It has so many different ways you can attack it. I will be playing more GPP lineups than usual (I usually play 1 cash lineup and 2-3 GPP lineups) because there are so many great spots I want to attack.
Point Guard
Top: At the very, very top we find Russell Westbrook for $53 against the Suns without Paul George. Russ has historically torched the Suns and he will get a massive usage bump without his running mate. If you are not able to afford his hefty price tag, Kemba Walker for $40 is also in an elite spot at home against the Nets.
Middle: Probably the most popular play today will be Lonzo Ball $23. He was a board away from a triple double last night. If Lonzo shot is falling again he will crush again. My only small concern is that the Clippers have Pat Bev and Avery Bradley to try to slow him down. An awesome pivot off Lonzo is Dennis Schroeder $19. Winslow is also in play at $16 in his new role.
Value: Another extremely popular play will be Satoransky for the minimum $10. He will be starting with Wall ruled out, and without Rivers he will need to play a ton of minutes. If you need cheap pivots I would consider Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Dennis Smith Jr, or Cory Joseph.
Shooting Guard
Top: Another extremely popular play (it will be a fairly chalk day today) is Bradley Beal $35. If you want a pivot off him I really like Devin Booker today against the Thunder without their best defender.
Middle: Brandon Ingram is only $20 after crushing last night. He will be a great play until either his price gets too high or LeBron James is back. Josh Richardson is an amazing pivot for the same price.
Value: With LeBron out, every Laker that will get minutes get a massive bump. Josh Hart is minimum price again after having a great outing yesterday. I could also consider Malik Monk for the minimum price.
Small Forward
Top: Surprise, another Laker! Kyle Kuzma stayed at the same price after having an amazing night. If you have the extra money, Kawhi is going to be very underowned with a hefty $48 price tag.
Middle: Juancho Hernangomez $18 just DESTROYED the Spurs for a 44 point outing. Even though I don’t believe he will get that high today, he proved that he has a great ceiling, which makes him great for GPPs.
Value: Rodions Kurucs is still $12 after posting 33.6, 32, and 40.9 Yahoo points on his last three outings. I don’t know what he needs to do to get a price bump.
Power Forward
Top: This is probably not the position where I am paying up for today. If you do have lots of money for your PF, my favorite play is Randle for $39.
Middle: Lauri Markkanen $28 is coming off a down game but he gets a great matchup against the Wizards. Marvin Williams and Jeremy Grant are also great plays at a $10 discount off Lauri.
Value: The value PF is lead by the Trick-or-Treat captain, Mr. Jeff Green. I have always hate rostering him. You don’t know if he is getting you 40 points, or 5 points. However; he gets a great matchup with no Porter and no Morris and he is only $12. Roster him and be prepared for the wild ride. If you prefer something more stable, Cedi is the same price.
Center
Top: The Center position is absolutely loaded today. My favorite play is Karl-Anthony Towns $41 against the Atlanta Hawks, 20/20 game incoming. I love all the other top plays as well, I will rank them AD, Drummond, Vuc, Jokic.
Middle: Steven Adams seems like he is in a price range where no one will play him, and I have no idea why. He put a 38 point performance last time he played the Suns and now he will get more usage and more plays with PG13 out. Also consider DJ and Myles Turner.
Value: Thanks to our very own Ben Hossler, I have became a Cody Zeller thruther. He is only $14 and gets a great matchup at home against the Nets. Ivica Zubac $12 is probably going to be more popular and is a great way to get more Lakers into your lineup. Also, Harrell for $20 is in a smash spot.
