Frosty’s Yahoo Picks – NBA cash plays for 01/09/19

Point Guard:

Top: I can’t say I absolutely love any top PG option (especially because of all the value in this position) but if I had the money to spend Damian Lillard has such a good matchup against the Bulls. I just don’t see the 2-3x potential of today’s value plays. Ben Simmons is super sneaky at that price because no one will play him.

Middle: D’Angelo Russell had probably the worst game of his career last game, but that came against a tough Celtics team. He is now in a premium bounce back spot against the Hawks. His teammate Dinwiddie should be in consideration as well.

Value: So many great value options. Starting with DSJ against the Suns (if playing), Shabazz, Lin, Melton, Neto and even Patty Mills. If I had to pick two of them it will be Neto and Melton, who will probably be the most popular ones but DSJ and Shabazz have the highest ceilings.
Shooting Guard:

Top: Is James Harden good? The answer is yes. That’s how obvious of a cash play he is. I know one of these days he will have a bad game and hurt your lineups but in cash it doesn’t matter since he will be so high owned. He is an easy fade in GPP’s.

Middle: My favorite play of the slate is probably Donovan Mitchell $28 against the Magic with no Rubio. We all know how much he loves to chuck it, and without Rubio he might have the ball in his hand 80% of the time. I love the idea of pairing him with Rubio and basically guaranteed a ton of usage for only $38. LaVine and Ingram are good gpp pivots.

Value: Kelly Oubre $12 had his coming out party last game. While we might be chasing a little, the reality is that the Suns are fairly thin and they might keep letting him play 30+ minutes. A not so sexy option (but maybe more stable) is Kyle Korver, or if you want to get crazy go with Gerald Green.

Small Forward

Top: DeMar DeRozan is #almostElite and we are getting him at a discount from all the other elite options. DDR has flashed his massive ceiling and he will be soooo low owned with everyone focusing on Harden/ABC/AD.

Middle: Trevor Ariza $23 might need to play 40 minutes tonight to try to slow down the 76ers. He was not the best last game but he does have 2x potential.

Value: Josh Jackson will be the highest owned player today, as he should be. I am expecting a repeat from last night. If you want some leverage off Josh Jackson, we can look right beack to Rodions Kurucs.

Power Forward:

Top: Giannis is going against the Beard today in what should be a fantasy fest. I do love when two super stars just go at each other trying to one-up the other. The Rockets might put Tucker on ABC but he can totally take advantage of that matchup. Probably my favorite GPP play is Blake Griffin going back to Staples. He will probably be guarded by a combination of Kuz/Ingram/Zubac/McGee? Yes please! Triple double potential.

Middle: The chalk is definitely TJ Warren. Yesterday I did not want to play three Suns in cash but everyone did and it cost me skipping over him. However; I might fade him and pay $5 more for Collins or $2 more for Gordon.

Value: With Carroll $14 back, we can forget about our boy Faried for today. I do like Carroll on a little revenge narrative in what should be a juicy fantasy matchup. If you need punt options, consider House, Tucker, and in deep GPPS Ersan Ilyasova.

Center:

Top: Anthony Davis against the Cavs and Joel Embiid against the Wizards…yes please! You must make at least one AD/Embiid line if you are entering multiple lineups. If I had to pick one I would lean Embiid thanks to the price discount.

Middle: Nurkic against the Chicago Bulls and Andre Drummond against the Lakers… can I roster 5 centers today? Even Capela for $35 against the Bucks. So many center options

Value: I know this is not a dirt cheap play, but Sabonis is such a good play for only $24 without Turner. In the same range we have Gasol against the Spurs and DJ against the Suns…Can I actually roster 7 centers today? If you need a dirt cheap play, I don’t mind going back to KOQ, or picking one of Chandler/Zubac.
