Happy New Year! While I struggled a little yesterday on Yahoo, I am ready to move on and crush this slate. Today’s slate has TOOOOONS of value….tons! The key to the slate is to find the best value and what studs we are paying for. Definitely a stars and scrubs day. If you guys have not seen what Yahoo has been doing, they are investing a ton of money on their DFS platform and providing tons of overlay on NBA and NFL. Point Guard
Top: Russell Westbrook $52 is coming back home in what should be a high scoring affair against the Lakers. Russ has been crushing with peripherals and has been struggling to score the ball. Once his shot starts falling he will totally destroy the slate.
Middle: Rose, Teague, Covington have already been ruled out, which gives us the gift of Tyus Jones for $17. He has been consistently putting 30 Yahoo points and without Covington he should get an additional bump. He might need to play 40 minutes today.
Value: Kyrie Irving has been ruled out and Rozier is only $10. If you remember last year, Rozier crushed with Kyrie out. Just play Rozier he should be 100% owned.
Shooting Guard
Top: Bradley Beal will continue to be the top SG for a while. He is $39 today which is not so crazy due to his ceiling without John Wall.
Middle: Brandon Ingram$23 is an awesome GPP play/pivot off spending up for Beal or paying all the way down to Okogie. Ingram will be in my GPP lineup.
Value: Another min price guy that seems like a no brainer with all the injuries. Josh Okogie is min price and he is going to have to play A TON of minutes.
Small Forward
Top: If you are into #Narratives, Paul George $49 has been ON FIRE and he now gets to play at Staples Center. With all the value in the slate, it might be easy to pay up for him.
Middle: Kyle Kuzma $32 and Luka Doncic $33 are in a price range where I don’t think many people will play them but a ceiling game from either could set you apart from the field due to their low ownership.
Value: Keep an eye on the Magic injuries for today, if Vuc is ruled out, Jonathan Isaac becomes very viable at only $11.
Power Forward
Top: John Collins $33 has to be the reason for hope for the Hawks. He has been on an absolute tear and continues to take advantage of the injuries to Len and/or Dedmon. Despite the huge minutes, he gets an amazing matchup against the Wizards. He is one of my starting points for today.
Middle: If Vucevic is ruled out, Aaron Gordon $26 becomes one of the best plays in the slate. He gets a cake matchup against the Bulls and he always has those massive ceiling games that could help you take down a GPP.
Value: With all the T-wolves injuries I am expecting Dario Saric $13 to be extremely popular, and for a good reason.
Center
Top: How about my ‘fade AD’ call the other day? I just had a weird feeling about him. Well, today I am going the other way and I want to try to fit AD into my lineups. If I don’t have AD on my lineup it will be because I am paying up for Karl-Anthony Towns $47. He will go against the undersized Celtics and he will pick up more usage with all the injuries. Today is probably a slate where I wish i could roster 4 centers since I love Embiid as well.
Middle: Thomas Bryant $17 has been one of the biggest benefactors of all the Wizards injuries. His price is slowly rising but he is still massively under priced.
Value: Our boy Zeller is out for a while with a fractured hand, which gives us Willy Hernangomez for the minimum price. While I do love me some Willy, his teammate Frank the Tank is also min priced and if his shot is falling he could have a higher ceiling. Also, if Vuc is out, Mo Bamba becomes the lock of the slate… so much great value today!
