Welcome to Brian’s CBB slate breakdown. In this article, I will share a few of my top plays on the slate, and discuss who you should target in cash and gpp contests. If you would like to gain access to our CBB core plays, final thoughts, and premium discord, click here.
Guards
Jason Preston (Ohio) vs. Creighton
Preston is a guy that I will be getting a lot of today. He has triple/double upside, especially in a matchup that should be MUCH faster paced than that one vs. Virginia. Preston is the team leader with a 25% usage rate, 21% rebounding rate and a crazy 38% assist rate. He is a guy that can put this Ohio team on his back and carry them to victory. He is the 3rd highest priced player on the slate, and should probably be priced as the highest. I love Preston today, and he is my top stud to pay up for.
Aaron Wiggins (Maryland) vs. Alabama
Wiggins finds himself in a HUGE pace up spot today vs. a quick tempo Bama team. Alabama rank in the top 10 in the country in pace. However, Bama is ranked 2nd in the nation in defensive efficiency, so production will not come easy for Wiggins. With that said, Wiggins carries a 27% usage rate in to this game, while playing 36 mpg and scoring 17 ppg. I like his sub 7k price tag, and expect that this up tempo game will benefit his overall production, though facing a very stingy Bama defense.
Forwards
Drew Timme & Corey Kispert (Gonzaga) vs. Oklahoma
Look for both Timme and Kispert, especially Timme, to give this Oklahoma Sooner team fits down low. I expect Gonzaga to work through Timme today, due to the huge advantage they have on the inside. This should help draw the defense in, allowing Kispert and Suggs to have some open looks from deep. This game has the highest total on the slate and should be one you target heavily for your main lineups today.
Christian Bishop (Creighton) vs. Ohio
Bishop is coming into this game off of a very strong round 1 performance. He had 15 points, 11 rebounds and 2 blocks against UCSB in Creighton’s first round win. I expect him to be very active again on both ends of the court vs. an inferior Ohio frontcourt. Ohio are one of the worst teams in the country at defending the paint. They allowed Hauser to have a big game in their opener, look for Bishop to keep his high level of play up in this one.
