Brian’s CBB Slate Breakdown 11/27

Welcome to Brian’s CBB Slate Breakdown. In this article I will break down a few of my top plays on the slate, and will discuss who you should target in cash and gpp contests. If you would like to gain access to our CBB core plays, final thoughts and premium discord click here!

Guards

Carlik Jones (Louisville)

Jones is a grad transfer from Radford who is also the reigning Big South player of the year.  Jones is an elite scorer and will be counted on to play big minutes for this Louisville team.  In their first game he flirted with a triple/double.  I expect by season end he will be in consideration for ACC player of the year.  He gets a nice up tempo matchup vs. Seton Hall today that he should be able to take advantage of.  Great spot to target Jones and Louisville here.

Michael Devoe (Georgia Tech)

Devoe is coming into this matchup off of the heels of a game where he finished with 24 points, 12 rebounds, and three assist.  That game did go into 3 overtimes, so take that for what its worth.  However, Devoe showed that he can still be a lights out shooter, and has gained a physicality that he lacked last season.  GT likes to play with some tempo, and this spot vs. Mercer should allow him to fill up the stat sheets in a hurry.

Colbey Ross (Pepperdine)

Ross is a future NBA guard.  He had multiple games last year where he scored 20+ points and also had a game where he scored 43 points.  He is a very talented scorer, and also a very capable rebounder.  He will be playing alongside a very talented wing in Kessler Edwards and between the two of them, they should be able to give UCLA all they can handle.  Don’t be surprised if they pull off the upset today.

Others to consider:  Q. Grimes (HOU);  D. Jarreau (HOU); C. Smith (UCLA); E. Ayala (MD); L. Nolley (MEM); N. Hyland (VCU) C. Mills(HOU); K. Robertson (MCR)

Forwards

Kessler Edwards (Pepperdine)

I mentioned Edwards above when talking about the talent that Ross possess.  Edwards is extremely talented, playing on the wing for Pepperdine.  He is always a threat to finish with a double/double and facing a UCLA defense that plays a very lazy style of defense, he should be able to crash the boards and rack up rebounds in this contest.  I love pairing Edwards and Ross together in this game because they both have extremely high ceilings.  Edwards price on DK is just too low for a guy capable of 20/10 games anytime he steps on the floor.

Douglas Wilson (SDST)

Wilson has had a very strong start to his season averaging 16 points and 6 rebounds per game.  He had a very tough matchup to start the year vs. WVU but held his own and was quite productive.  Today he gets a much more favorable matchup vs. St. Marys.  I expect him to continue his good play.  He is also the reigning Summit League player of the year, I would not be shocked if he won it again.  Good talent.

Samuell Williamson (Louisville)

Williamson is expected to jump into a much bigger role this year than what he had last year.  This was evident by his performance in the Cardinals first game of the season where he played 34 minutes and recorded 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assist.  Williamson has always had the talent to excel at Lousiville, it was just finding consistency.  I expect him to continue to grow into a very good scorer, and he will always be skilled in grabbing rebounds and being a very good defender.  He should thrive in this up tempo matchup vs. Seton Hall.

Jarius Hamilton (Maryland)

Hamilton received his immediate eligibility waiver from the NCAA, which was a big time boost for Maryland.  Hamilton is going to give Maryland some much needed help in the frontcourt this season, and will see his role continue to grow throughout the year.   Hamilton transferred in from Boston College where he averaged 9.5 ppg and 4.3 rpg.  He had a slow start in Maryland’s first game of the season, but should see greater success going forward.  He is priced at only 5,300 on DK and makes for a very solid play vs. a weak Navy team.

Others to consider:  J. Bean (UTST); S. Mamukelashvili (SH); M. Wright (GT); M. Cisse (MEM); B. Medley-Bacon (VCU)*; M. Tass (STMY)
