Bobby’s NBA GPP Top Plays (3/8/19)

Last day I should be doing my research from another country as I’m returning to the states tomorrow.  Let’s nail this Friday slate, I’ll have one play per position with the potential “chalk” play for the position. My core continues to be on fire so make sure to check that out tonight by purchasing the NBA Core Plays package at dfskarma.com/shop and asking any questions you have in Discord tonight to fill out the rest of your lineup. Make sure as usual to leverage some of my TOP GPP options with a core of chalkier plays. Let’s get into my top GPP plays for this slate.

AS NBA is a game where last-minute real-life changes are made before tipoff, always monitor breaking news up to last second!

The plays below in this daily article are low owned pivots and GPP plays. This means that these players will be RELATIVELY low owned, and ‘contrarian’ relative to the more highly owned, chalky plays of the night.  I emphasize upside/leverage over ownership, particularly in NBA DFS.

BALL IN!

Point Guard

Top GPP Plays:

  1. Kyle Lowry:  Lowry has been on a tear after having a mid-season struggle.  The Raptors OG has two fifty-plus DK points in his last three games while being a beast of a distributor over the course of the last few weeks averaging over 8 assists per game over the last month.  His price has come down a couple hundred since his last game and we get him projected for over 35 minutes tonight in an up-pace game with the Pelicans.  Stacking both Payton and Lowry should be a surefire way to get some upside for fantasy points from this game.
  2. Chalk Play: Elfrid Payton

Shooting Guard

Top GPP Plays:

  1. Gary Harris: This seems like a play that should be a lot more chalky but isn’t looking like it based off of early day projections.  Harris is only 4k projected for around 30 minutes in a game that easily could end up the highest scoring of the night with a projected 235 over under.  Harris was previously shooting poorly before his last game where he dropped over 35 DK points (near 10x) and shot eight of eleven from the field.  This is more of what we are accustomed to seeing of Harris.  Another high scoring game could be in the works tonight where the Nuggets should score a ton.
  2. Chalk Play: James Harden

Small Forward

Top GPP Plays:

  1. Tim Hardaway Jr.:  This quietly is one of my favorite plays on the slate.  Hardaway is an extremely volatile option but his projections are actually extremely impressive given his price.  With ownership nearing below 5%, his price the lowest we’ve seen it in quite a while, and being able to put up close to .9 FP/min on the average is all impressive.  He’s never going to have a usage rate below 20% so it seems and has taken over double-digit shots in every game in the past month.  He’s not a lock for value but he has a massive ceiling tonight.
  2. Chalk Play: Royce O’Neale

Power Forward

Top GPP Plays:

  1. Frank Kaminsky: If you don’t want to play Kenrich Williams in what feels like a crowded front-court in addition to the fact Williams likely wouldn’t be playing much over 10 mpg if it weren’t for the AD fiasco, it doesn’t seem sharp to play Williams at 30% ownership when we can pivot to Kaminsky in the single digits where he has been producing over a fantasy point per minute since getting inserted into the starting lineup.  In a game where the Hornets are implied for nearly 120 points and Kaminsky has posted three straight games crushing value, there is no reason for him not to hit for 6x or more tonight.  I love this play.
  2. Chalk Play:  Kenrich Williams

Center

Top GPP Plays:

  1. Montrezl Harrell:  While Harrell has been playing a bit poorer of late I think we’re going to see a turnaround soon and he has a ceiling you want to capitalize on when his price is down this low given his role in this unexpectantly high octane offense.  Harrell should match up well in this game where he won’t get stretched out too much but can outplay Steven Adams with athleticism and versatility.  Harrell is still outproducing his season average this month even with a cold stretch fo a week or two.  In the highest total game of the slate, he’s going to get some look from other DFS players but I don’t expect him to go over 20%.  A pace up game at 6.3k is just what we’ll need as Harrell truthers to get a big hit.
  2. Chalk Play: Andre Drummond
