Today is one of those weird days where we actually have a playable slate on a Tuesday. Let’s get into my top GPP plays for this slate. You can access my CORE GPP Plays by signing up for an NBA package at dfskarma.com!
AS NBA is a game where last-minute real-life changes are made before tipoff, always monitor breaking news up to last second!
The plays below in this daily article are low owned pivots and GPP plays. This means that these players will be RELATIVELY low owned, and ‘contrarian’ relative to the more highly owned, chalky plays of the night.
BALL IN!
Point Guard
Top GPP Plays:
- Trey Burke: Who knows what is going on with Fizdale’s point guard rotations but I do know for sure that I’m going to take a gamble on Trey Burke today in most of my lineups. If he can hit anywhere close to over his minutes projections he has legit 10x upside in a pace-up matchup with the Warriors. Even if this game blows out you have to figure that Burke would be getting heavy minutes towards the end of the game.
- Quin Cook: This game is a very realistic blowout threat and pairing up Burke/Cook could end up winning you all the money. He’s not a fantastic play if this game stays close but could still get the job done and won’t crush your lineups at 3.1k. His upside is elite if he gets the minutes.
Shooting Guard
Top GPP Plays:
- Kelly Oubre: There is a ton of value on this slate that I seem to like and Kelly Oubre for sub 4k is one of them. Oubre has averaged over 20% in usage in his new role on this Suns team and should continue to be aggressive in his new role. The Kings play at one of the fastest paces in the NBA and are horrible defensively against players of Oubre’s style/size. He should thrive tonight.
- Lou Williams: Lou has been on fire over the course of the past month averaging over 1.4 FP/minute. He’s projected for an elite 32% usage rate while on the court tonight and should see close to 30 minutes. If he’s hot and this game is close down the stretch he could post a monster score. He’s someone I’m going to get exposure to.
Small Forward
Top GPP Plays:
- Josh Richardson: Richardson historically isn’t a player I’m usually over-exposed to in GPPs but his price has come down and his ceiling remains around 50 points as the #1/2 option for the Heat. Richardson plays HEAVY minutes and I think this game goes over the 210.5 over/under it’s currently sitting at. He hasn’t posted one of his ceiling games in quite a while but everything about his game has remained consistent. He’s got a good shot tonight at a decreased price tag to go for 7x+.
- TJ Warren: Especially on Draftkings the price is going to scare people off of Warren big time. But even at 7.1k his ceiling is over 50 DK points and he has one of the best matchups on the board in a major pace up game against the Kings with a huge projected total. This game is supposed to stay close and we should get a minimum 35 minutes out of Warren tonight. Even at his elevated price tag he’s a fantastic play.
Power Forward
Top GPP Plays:
- Jerami Grant: There is a ton of chalk at this position that is going to be tough to avoid but I don’t mind taking a shot at Jerami Grant now that his price has come down a bit. 4.8k is expensive for the Grant we used to know but he’s locked in for 30+ minutes, a game and even with a lower usage rate is able to provide elite upside with his steal/block as well as other peripheral ability. Make sure you’re playing Josh Jackson, Bjelica, and Hezonja but don’t be afraid to pivot on Grant who should lead that group of chalk in minutes.
- Kevin Looney: As I said before, I really think this game blows out big time. Looney is only 4k and has shown a ceiling when given minutes. While the projections for him are down as most systems are assuming the Warriors starters come in during the 4th quarter, I’m ranking Looney much higher where he should get around 25-27 minutes tonight. He could crush his 4k price tag.
Center
Top GPP Plays:
- Willie Cauley-Stein: DeAndre Ayton defense in one of the most fast-paced games on the slate? I’m in. WCS thrives in these type of fast-paced matchups and the defensive assignment can’t get any better in Ayton who will struggle mightily with WCS’s versatility. WCS has been producing at a high level from a fantasy perspective lately and offers 50+ DK point upside at sub 15% ownership. He’ll probably become more popular closer to lock but I absolutely love this play.
- Karl-Anthony Towns: Towns isn’t expected to be popular tonight and is essentially matchup proof where he can post a massive game at any point. I don’t mind differentiating a bit off Embiid while taking a price discount and a similair ceiling. Embiid is playing out of his mind and should dominate tonight but there are scenarios in which KAT outscores him. That would give you massive leverage over the field.
