Ben’s Building Blocks – NBA Cash Game Plays for 12/21/18

What’s up guys! We have a nice 10 game slate on tap tonight, but there is some massive injury news we are waiting on…of course in the last game of the night — Lakers/Pelicans art 10:30. Given that we most likely will not have news on Anthony Davis, LeBron James, Julius Randle, Tyson Chandler and Ivica Zubac…all questionable, I want to emphasize that this is 100% a night that you want to play on DraftKings. FanDuel continues to go with the low score drop over late swap approach, which is fine, but I’m not risking a big chunk of money if I don’t know who is playing in that game. That being said, I’m going to format this article a bit different tonight due to the slate. Let’s get it!

Point Guard

Point Guard is pretty straightforward to me on Friday night, with two solid mid tier plays in Emmanuel Mudiay and Fred VanVleet, and two solid spend up plays (DK) in Kemba Walker and Kyrie Irving. Kemba went off in his last game against the Cavs, and I had him in my cash lineup on DK at about 5% owned. He’s at home again tonight in a fantastic matchup with a poor defensive Pistons team, and he is sticking out as my favorite DK play again, with Mudiay and FVV right behind him for cheaper. Irving would be my GPP pivot off of Kemba, and I could see going all three — Kemba/Mudiay/FVV — in cash games tonight.

Shooting Guard

Shooting guard, like point guard, seems pretty straightforward to me with DeMar Derozan sticking out above the rest of the position. Dero comes in at just $8,000 on DraftKings, and he would be someone that I want to be overweight to the field on tonight. The glaring value for me is Josh Okogie who has been over 0.5 FPPM with Jeff Teague out this season, but has seen monster minutes in the last two that Teague has missed. You can also list Derrick Rose here (DK) who remains a strong play without Teague, and you can look at Jrue Holiday as your Derozan pivot.

Small Forward

Small forward is pretty hairy tonight, with LeBron questionable and Giannis in a tougher matchup with Boston. I would love to recommend LeBron here if he plays, but if not it’s going to be Giannis in GPPs for me. I’m mainly looking at Kyle Anderson for cash games should JaMychal Green miss tonight’s game, but Gordon Hayward, Jayson Tatum and Darius Miller (should Randle/AD miss) are all in consideration.

Power Forward

There’s a lot of moving parts at power forward as well with Anthony Davis and Julius Randle questionable, and even LeBron affects this position as well. For now, I’m looking at Pascal Siakam, Daniel Theis and Noah Vonleh as my top cash game options on DraftKings given that a more balanced approach is popping for me right now. Should LeBron miss, Kyle Kuzma gets a big time bump up, and I like both of AD/Randle if they play.

Center

Center is pretty odd as well, with some solid top tier options, but none that I would put above Kemba/Derozan as jam in plays. We will need a mid tier play here as well it looks like, with Jusuf Nurkic, Jarrett Allen, Willie Cauley-Stein and Greg Monroe (if Ibaka OUT) all in my player pool.
