Derrick Favors is coming off of a success season, but he only saw 23 minutes per game with the Utah Jazz. He signed a two-year deal worth slightly under $40 million with the New Orleans Pelicans. He’s expected to start at center, while seeing time at power forward with Zion Williamson injured. Between his contract and injuries, Favors could see 30+ minutes per game. He saw a 19.4% usage rating last season, averaging 18.3 points, 11.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.1 steals, 2.2 blocks, and 1.7 turnovers on a per-36 minute basis. Overall, he averaged 1.2 fantasy points per minutes during the 2018-19 season. Favors will see a massive uptick in pace with New Orleans, adding to his upside, as well. This total is a bit low with blocks and steals equalling 3 fantasy points, and Favors makes a strong option for the over.
What a game to start the season, right? This is an opportunity to make a statement for both Los Angeles teams. Lou Williams saw an elite 32.4% usage rating last season, and that will drop in 2019 with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George in town. With that being said, PG13 is injured, leaving Sweet Lou to continue to see an elite usage rating. The addition of Leonard will add to Williams’ assist potential. The latter needed only 26.5 minutes per game to average 20.1 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game. This game will feature an elite pace, although the Los Angeles Lakers are expected to play at a slightly slower pace in 2019. Still, Williams and Leonard will take over the offense, and this is a surprisingly low total compared to the other players on this slate.
