Power Play
Nikola Vucevic has caught fire recently. He’s averaging 21.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.2 steals (42.0 fantasy points) in 32.1 minutes per game over the last 10 days. He was only able to find the over in three of those five games, though. Since returning from injury, Vucevic has scored 40.8+ fantasy points in only 4 of his 9 games. Tonight, he gets a terrible matchup against the Miami Heat. They rank 23rd in the NBA in pace and 12th in defensive rating. Miami also features one of the best defenses in the NBA against centers. Vucevic is likely to see 30-35 minutes tonight, but he could struggle with limited opportunities. This total is a bit high for what should be a defensive-minded game.
Hassan Whiteside is averaging 14.2 points, 14.4 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 3.0 blocks (42.1 fantasy points) in 31.3 minutes per game over the last 10 days. Those numbers are skewed by a 21 minute, 18.7 fantasy point performance against the Utah Jazz. Excluding that game, Whiteside has scored 40+ fantasy points in 14 of his last 16 games, including each of his last 7 games. Most importantly, Whiteside gets a matchup against the Washington Wizards, who rank third in the NBA in pace and 30th in defensive rating. The Wizards continue to deal with a multitude of injuries, and they don’t have any healthy big men that can slow Whiteside down. He has flashed 60+ fantasy point upside throughout the season because of his block potential, and he’s an elite option tonight.
