Bales’ Bananas – Monkey Knife Fight NBA Prop Picks 3/5/19

Over Under 2/2 – Orlando Magic/Philadelphia 76ers

Nikola Vucevic is simply in a spot where the Philadelphia 76ers don’t have anyone that can guard him. Joel Embiid and Boban Marjanovic have been ruled out, while Amir Johnson is questionable. That leaves Jonah Bolden as the only “center” on the roster, while Mike Scott, Ben Simmons, or Tobias Harris could play a “small ball” center for stretches. Regardless, Vucevic should find success against any of those players. He is also averaging 23.2 points on 17.2 shot attempts, 2.2 three-point attempts, and 2.6 free throw attempts per game over his last five games, while scoring 22+ points in four of those contests, as well. Vucevic has played two matchups against Philadelphia this season, averaging 28.5 points in 38.3 minutes per game, and he could find similar success tonight. Simmons owns a relatively high assist total in this prop, but he has found double-digit assists in three of his last four games. He’s also averaging 5.0 assists in only 19.3 minutes per game against the Orlando Magic this season. Simmons will have to continue to play a facilitator role with Embiid out, but Jimmy Butler is also questionable tonight. He’s locked into huge minutes for Philadelphia, giving him every opportunity to find assists in this matchup.

Play $50 on Nikola Vucevic OVER 21.5 points and Ben Simmons OVER 8.5 assists to win $120.50 (2.41x)

Over Under 2/2 – Chicago Bulls/Indiana Pacers

I felt Otto Porter Jr.’s offensive game was always somewhat disrespected for the Washington Wizards because he was the third fiddle behind John Wall and Bradley Beal. One could argue he’s third in line for the Chicago Bulls now, but he’s simply getting more opportunity. Since joining Chicago (eight games), Porter is averaging 19.8 points on 14.3 shot attempts, 5.8 three-point attempts, and 2.4 free throw attempts per game. Those numbers include a 14 minute performance against the Boston Celtics, in which he didn’t score prior to leaving the game. He has scored 17+ points in each of his other seven games, including two contests with 30+ points. The Indiana Pacers own a tough defense, but Porter’s prop is set as if he’s still seeing limited opportunities to score, which simply isn’t the case. Darren Collison has taken over as the primary ball-handler in Indiana with Victor Oladipo injured. He has caught fire over his last nine games, as he’s averaging 7.7 assists in 30.4 minutes per game. He recently struggled a bit in a pair of games, but he has totaled 7+ assists in seven of those nine games. He gets somewhat of a difficult matchup against the Chicago Bulls tonight, but this game should feature plenty of scoring from Indiana, adding to Collison’s assist opportunities. Surprisingly, he is only averaging 3.0 assists in 31.5 minutes per game against Chicago this season, but I expect him to break through tonight.

Play $50 on Otto Porter Jr. OVER 15.5 points and Darren Collison OVER 6.5 assists to win $116 (2.32x)

Over Under 2/2 – Boston Celtics/Golden State Warriors

Klay Thompson is currently questionable, so this prop may get voided, but we have to lock it in until then. Thompson’s role on this team is as a scorer, but this prop doesn’t truly suggest that. Over his last 11 games, he’s averaging 23.6 points on 17.6 shot attempts, 8.2 three-point attempts, and 2.1 free throw attempts. He has scored 18+ points in 10 of those 11 games, as well. He becomes a bit more inconsistent if we go further back, but he has still scored 18+ points in 19 of his last 23 contests. Furthermore, Thompson scored 21 points in 34.5 minutes against the Boston Celtics earlier this season, and there’s little-to-no reason to believe he won’t find 18+ points again tonight. Jayson Tatum is the riskier option, as his prop is set a bit more accurately. He certainly has the potential to hit multiple three-pointers on any given night, but he hasn’t been looking for his shot or shooting with confidence recently. Over his last 13 games, Tatum is averaging only 0.9 three-pointer made on 3.1 three-point attempts per game. He has made more than one three-pointer in only one of those 13 games, as well. Furthermore, he has shot two or fewer three-point attempts in seven of those 13 games. Tatum’s inconsistent shooting and lack of aggression at the three-point line make the under significantly more appealing tonight.

Play $50 on Klay Thompson OVER 17.5 points and Jayson Tatum UNDER 1.5 three-pointers made to win $109 (2.18x)
