D’Angelo Russell is still finding his footing with the Minnesota Wolves. He’s averaging 24.4 points on 17.8 shot attempts, 9.6 three-point attempts, and 5.0 free throw attempts in 32.8 minutes per game through 5 games with Minnesota. He also posted a 29.4% usage rating in those contests. Excluding his debut, Russell posted 24+ points in 3 of his last 4 games. He’s the clear focal point of the offense with Karl-Anthony Towns out, as well. Russell gets a tough matchup against the Orlando Magic, who rank 27th in the NBA in pace and ninth in defensive rating. He’ll be a volume scorer, though, and could see 20+ shot attempts in this game tonight.
Nikola Vucevic has seen plenty of ups and downs this season. He’s averaging 20.0 points in 33.6 minutes per game since the All Star Break. He only scored 22+ points in 1 of those 3 games, as well. With that being said, Vucevic has been at his best in Orlando. He’s shooting 49.9% from the field at home, while averaging 20.8 points per game. Vucevic gets an elite matchup against Minnesota. They rank fifth and 20th in the NBA in pace and defensive rating, respectively. Minnesota is either young or undersized at center, and Vucevic should find plenty of success in this matchup.
