C.J. McCollum has seen an increased offensive role with Damian Lillard injured. He’s averaging 34.0 points in 40.0 minutes per game in his last 2 contests without Lillard. More importantly, he’s averaging 26.0 shot attempts, 9.5 three-point attempts, and 6.0 free throw attempts per game over that span. McCollum will continue to see minutes in the high-30s or low-40s, while seeing a boost usage rating. He gets a tough matchup against the Boston Celtics, who rank third in the NBA in defensive rating this season. Still, McCollumn is likely to see 20+ shot attempts in this game. He may not need to be overly efficient to hit the over in this play.
Jayson Tatum is another player that has been playing at an elite level recently. He’s averaging 30.3 points on 20.1 shot attempts, 9.1 three-point attempts, and 7.8 free throw attempts per game over his last 8 contests. He posted 27+ points in 6 of those 8 games. Tatum has also scored 41, 28, and 39 points in his last 3 games. He gets a great matchup against the Portland Blazers, who rank 27th in the NBA in defensive rating. Tatum could see 20+ shot attempts again tonight, and he should continue to play at an efficient level. He’s the focal point of the Boston offense, and will make an elite scoring option in this matchup tonight.
