Scoring Champ – Atlanta Hawks/Miami Heat

Trae Young enters this game with an elite 37.9% usage rating. He has been one of the best scorers in the NBA, as he’s averaging 34.0 points per game through 3 contests. Young is averaging 22.0 shot attempts, 8.3 three-point attempts, and 8.7 free throw attempts per game. He’s coming off of a tough matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers, but he still scored 25 points in that game. Prior to that, Young had scored 39 and 38 points against the Orlando Magic and Detroit Pistons. He comes with elite scoring potential, making him a must in this play.

Kendrick Nunn has been a dominant scorer for the Miami Heat. This isn’t necessarily a huge surprise, as he found tremendous success scoring in college. His role is a bit of a surprise, though, as he’s averaging 31.5 minutes per game thus far. He has turned those minutes into 22.3 points per game. Overall, he’s averaging 17.3 shot attempts, 6.3 three-point attempts, and only 1.7 free throws per game. Nunn could see a bit less usage with Jimmy Butler back tonight, but his role will likely remain relatively similar to what it has been.

Jimmy Butler will be making his 2019 debut tonight. His role is a bit unknown, but he’s expected to be a large part of the offense. Butler has averaged 20+ points per game in 4 of his last 5 seasons, while averaging 18.7 points per game last season. Atlanta is far from a top defense, and utilizes two of Miami’s best scorers is the top route for this play. If you’re concerned about Butler, Justise Winslow is the other option to consider here.
