Bales’ Bananas – Monkey Knife Fight NBA Prop Picks 1/7/19

Scoring Champ – Orlando Magic/Sacramento Kings

This disrespect of Buddy Hield continues once again tonight. Hield has scored 20+ points in 11 of his last 13 games. Over that span, he’s averaging 24.2 points per game, while averaging 18.7 shot attempts (9.8 three-point attempts) per game. He’s also shooting 47.7% from the field (46.5% from three) over that span. Hield played limited minutes in the only two games scoring less than 20 points, and he’s expected to play minutes in the mid- to high-30s tonight. The Orlando Magic also feature an average defense against shooting guards, allowing them to average 22.9 points per game this season. Nikola Vucevic isn’t as close to a lock as Hield, but his numbers are a bit off. He has scored 22+ points in five of his last six games, and he’s averaging 21.7 points per game over that span. He gets  great matchup against the Sacramento Kings, who are allowing 22.4 points per game to opposing centers this season. Vucevic’s minutes have been a bit inconsistent, but he should find plenty of success in this matchup.

Play $50 on Buddy Hield OVER 18.5 points and Nikola Vucevic OVER 17.5 points to win $108 (2.16x)

3 Point Shootout – Denver Nuggets/Houston Rockets

This is another play that is a bit off in my opinion. Eric Gordon has been ruled out, meaning James Harden will be locked into a usage rating north of 40% again tonight. He has recorded at least five three-pointers in each of his last nine games, and he’s averaging 6.8 three-pointers per game over that span. Furthermore, Harden recently hit 10 three-pointers in a single game, and he is likely to post at least half of the three-pointers needed in this play himself. Austin Rivers will also be locked into big minutes with Gordon and Chris Paul injured. He has made at least two three-pointers in each of his last six games, but that number has increased to four and five in his last two games. Rivers has seen 10 and nine three-point attempts in his last two games, and he looks to have finally settled into the Houston offense. Harden and Rivers will likely see 25-30 three-point attempts, and they have the potential to hit this play themselves. With that being said, we can add one more player, and I’m leaning the upside of Murray. He has struggled to produce from beyond the arc at times this season, but he’s a streaky shooter, who has been heating up a bit recently. He’s averaging 4.2 three-pointers per game over his last five games, including a game with nine three-pointers. You could use someone a bit more consistent instead of Murray because of the consistency and upside of Harden/Rivers, but Murray is another player who has the potential to hit half of this play on his own. The 11.5 goal (3x) and 13.5 goal (5x) can also be considered here if you’re willing to side with a bit more risk.

Play $50 on James Harden, Jamal Murray, and Austin Rivers OVER 10.5 three-pointers made to win $100 (2x)

Glass Cleaner – Utah Jazz/Milwaukee Bucks

Giannis Antetokounmpo has been an elite rebounding option throughout the 2018 season, posting a 19.5% rebounding percentage through 36 games. He’s far and away the best rebounding option for the Milwaukee Bucks, and he’s averaging 12.6 rebounds per game this season. He has also posted 8+ rebounds in each of his last 10 games, including three games with 14+ rebounds over his last six. Rudy Gobert is another player that has been an elite rebounder, posting a 21.9% rebounding percentage through 40 games. He’s averaging 12.2 rebounds per game on the season, and he has posted double-digit rebounds in eight of his last 10 games. He has owns four games with 14+ rebounds over that span, including three of his last six games. Derrick Favors is another player that owns a solid rebounding percentage (16.7%), and he has played 25+ minutes in each of his last four games. Over that span, he’s averaging 7.3 rebounds per game. Favors is expected to see similar minutes again tonight, and Milwaukee has struggled against rebounding power forwards throughout 2018. This play relies heavily on Antetokounmpo and Gobert, while Favors adds a consistent option, who also comes with quite a bit of upside.

Play $50 on Rudy Gobert, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Derrick Favors OVER 35.5 rebounds to win $100 (2x)
