AP CORE Discussion
Happy Thursday Karma Nation! Due to injuries, pricing and the matchups we have, this is an interesting slate. You will be forced to make some key decisions up top. My build path is to maximize my exposure to as many high ceiling players as possible.
POINT GUARD – Derrick Rose, PG/SG, 6,500 (Core Play) – Rose took a back seat in their blowout win over the Suns a few days ago. I was all in on Rose and that busted many of mine lineups. I’m going right back to the well and I’ll be locking in Derrick Rose tonight. Given their current injury situation, Rose owns a 36% usage rate and averages 1.37 fantasy points per minute.
SHOOTING GUARD – Jrue Holiday, PG/SG, 8,200 (Core Play) – With Moore, Mirotic and Davis all OUT, Jrue Holiday owns a 30% usage rate and averages 1.44 fantasy points per minute. Jrue also averages an insane number of minutes on the court. If this game stays close, he should play over 38 minutes. If he stays true to his FPM average, that amounts to 55 fantasy points.
SMALL FORWARD – [Pay down]
POWER FORWARD – Julius Randle, PF/C, 7,800 (Core Play) – With Moore, Mirotic and Davis all OUT, Julius Randle owns a 31.4% usage rate and averages 1.40 fantasy points per minute. Much like Holiday, if this game stays close, we could see at least four Pelican players hit GPP value tonight.
CENTER – Karl-Anthony Towns, C, 10,200 (Core Play) – In my opinion, given his price and the matchup, Towns has the highest ceiling on this slate. Despite blowing out the Suns on Monday, he put up 65.50 DK points in 31 minutes. To further back this up, given their current injury situation, Towns owns a 28% usage rate and averages 1.80 fantasy points per minute. As I previously stated, this slate comes down to roster construction and we will need to make the right decisions up top.
GUARD – Jerryd Bayless, PG/SG, 3,600 (GPP Value) – Bayless, again, will assume Tyus Jones backup point guard duties. This play screams recency bias, as Bayless just put up a huge number against the Suns. However, if you look closely at their rotations, Bayless and Rose were on the court together a decent amount of time against the Suns. I’m really just hoping for a number above 20 DK points from Bayless tonight.
