Pitching

Gerrit Cole: Have to write him up today because he is the best pitcher on a very weak slate. I personally want to be underweight on Cole. I truly believe that he has been cheating and that his spin rate and control will decline from earlier this year. I think his Dk price will lag behind his production decline, so I will be avoiding these high price tags. I get it for cash games, I will be avoiding in GPPs.

Lance Lynn: Lynn has been a workhorse for the White Sox this season. They continue to let him work deep into games. I think this a solid matchup for Lynn as well. Toronto destroys left-handed pitching but this is a good spot to work quickly and get some Ks vs the Tor righties.

Austin Gomber: Gomber has been solid this season, he is priced down due to the starts in Coors. He gets a great matchup vs a Marlins team that has a high strikeout rate vs lefties. He is my preferred spend-down option on today’s slate. I will be pairing him with a high-priced guy today.

Other GPP Targets: Patrick Corbin, Griffin Canning, and Adam Wainwright

MLB Top Batters

Batters

C

JT Realmuto: Realmuto was a popular option last night and he came through in a big way with a homerun late in the game for the Phillies. Realmuto will hit near the top of the order vs an underwhelming lefty.

Max Stassi: DFS darling Stassi homered last night and is still underpriced at 3k if he is going to be hitting clean up behind Rendon today. I want to ride the hot bat here and be invested in Stassi. He came through for me last night for cheap and I am looking to save again with him tonight.

1B

Pete Alonso: Alonso crushed two homeruns last night in defeat for the Mets, but Pete looks like he is officially in one of his hot streaks we can remember from the 2019 season. He gets a great matchup vs Matt Harvey and he will look to take advantage of the underwhelming stuff of Harvey today.

Freddie Freeman: We are finally getting a good price tag on Freeman around 5k. Eflin gives up a lot of homeruns and if teams keep pitching around Acuna and putting Freeman in high leverage spots, then I want to be on Freddie for the grand slam that’s coming.

Rhys Hoskins: Hoskins disappointed with an 0-for effort last night. I am willing to go right back to Rhys today in a plus matchup vs a lefty. Hoskins is extremely dangerous vs left-handed pitching and I will look to take advantage of recency bias here.

2B

Jean Segura: Segura has been a model of consistency for years at the 2B position. I will be going back to him today in a premium lineup spot with a lot of protection around him. I don’t see a reason to avoid Segura in cash games today. I expect he will be popular but for good reason.

Shed Long Jr.: If you’re looking to save at 2B, look no further than Shed Long. Long was productive last night and he should get a favorable middle-of-the-order spot tonight vs Casey Mize. I think Mize is talented but Shed can draw walks and potentially cause havoc on the base paths.

3B

Justin Turner: Justin Turner vs a lefty. Play, print, repeat. Turner has smashed lefties over the course of his career and specifically in the last 2-3 seasons in the heart of the Dodgers order. Turner always has RBI opportunities with guys on base in front of him. I will be spending up for Turner if I can find the money.

Jonathan Villar: Villar is a great way to get exposure to the high team total that the Mets possess today. Villar should lead off with protection behind him in Lindor and Pete. Villar has power and speed combo and Harvey does struggle to hold runners on.

SS

Francisco Lindor: Lindor is just flat-out underpriced at under 5k in a matchup vs Harvey. I will be playing Lindor today and I am expecting a big game. Over the last 8 games Lindor has really caught fire, its time for him to a big slate-breaking game and that’s tonight.

JP Crawford: Crawford has been a singles machine for the Mariners. I will take it! He is a cheap consistent option at the top of the order in a great matchup vs Mize. The Mariners stack is an intriguing one today.

OF

Nick Castellanos: Castellanos vs a lefty has been a printfest. I will always want to one-off him when he’s in this kind of matchup. He has not only been one of the best hitters this season but he’s one of the best left-handed pitching destroyers in the league.

Christian Yelich: Yelich is still an appealing price in a plus matchup. I think he’s one of the best pay-up options on this slate. I will be making Yelich a priority spend up today and he is my homerun call for the slate!

Yordan Alvarez: Draftkings refuses to price Yordan up! He gets a good matchup for power vs Eovaldi. It is for sure a boom-bust spot. I will look to use Alvarez as a one-off if the money makes sense.

Dodgers OF: The Dodgers outfield is interesting, I think Betts and Pollock will be under-owned compared to how I think they should be owned. If I save money at pitcher then I will look to have Betts in my lineup. Pollock is the discount option to get exposure to the Dodgers.

Stacks

“Team Batting Score” – A metric that quickly highlights overall team batting based on Runs Created (RC+) by team and comparing it to the average and standard deviation of all other MLB Teams
“Opp. Pitcher SP Score” – A weighted metric that evaluates today’s starting pitchers based on xFIP and Games Started (currently using partial end of 2020 data blended with the 2021 season)
“Opp. BP Score” – Similar to SP Score but weights the xFIP for the team’s bullpen

DK MLB Stacks

“T2” (and T3/T4/T5) represents the Top 2 projected hitters for the team on the left (not necessarily the top 2 hitters in the batting order)

Stacking is an extremely important element to MLB DFS. In MLB, all of your players are correlated to each other. Outside of solo homeruns, they need each other to succeed. If you look at the top of all of the big GPPs every night you will see stacks dominating the leaderboard.

When using our stacks chart, we want to identify teams that are projecting well but the ownership does not reflect their chance of success.
