Pitching

Anthony Kay- Kay will be replacing Matz today in the Rotation for the Blue Jays. We are getting a pretty talented young pitcher at 4K, the stone minimum today. He is in a great spot to succeed today vs Baltimore.

Walker Buehler- Buehler will take advantage of the strikeout heavy Cubs lineup. Their team strikeout rate is near 30%. The NL advantage of no DH is in playing for Buehler as well. He is expensive, but he is my preferred spend up on this slate.

Other GPP Targets: J. Berrios, N. Pivetta

MLB Top Batters

Batters

C

Catcher is a spend up position for me today. The position starts with Yan Gomes for me vs a young Poteet. He has a nice lineup position and the Nationals are one of the sneakiest stacks for me on today’s slate. Since I am playing Kay, I don’t need to save with a punt catcher.

1B

First base is loaded today. At the top we have Vlad Jr. and Freddie Freeman, a future MVP and former MVP. Vlad is one of the best hitters in baseball right now and I will continue to play him in plus matchups.

If we need some savings we have Chavis. He is leading off for the Red Sox vs Wacha. The Red Sox always have a solid team total and today is no different.

2B

Chavis is also second base eligible and I really like playing him here.

Pivetta struggles vs power left handlers, Lowe is set up to be in a great position to succeed. I want to chase homeruns in my tournament lineups and Lowe is a great target for that. Extremely boom or bust option.

3B

Ke’Bryan Hayes has really come around as a high upside prospect for the pirates. Martinez has a high leg kick that allows for steal opportunities. He has high upside due to his power and speed combo. Wander Franco has third base eligibility and is still in play even though he is no longer min price. (Thank you Draftkings)

SS

Jazz Chisholm is my favorite play at SS today. The young left handed bat is finally under 4K and this is the perfect time to invest in him.

If you have the funds to get all the way up to Trea Turner then you should. He is always on the short list of priority spend ups for me.

OF

Jesse Winker is in the top 5 in barrels and barrel % over the past two seasons. Not enough people are talking about how incredible he has been over the last 12 months.

Juan Soto and Austin Meadows round out the elite options that I am looking at today. The power lefties are in excellent matchups and can break the slate.

Myles Straw is a lock for cash games at 2.5k on draftkings. I am fine eating the chalk and playing him in my tournament lineups.

Gregory Polanco will go under owned today but he is my homerun call of the day! A mini stack of Hayes and Polanco is fantastic.

Stacks

“Team Batting Score” – A metric that quickly highlights overall team batting based on Runs Created (RC+) by team and comparing it to the average and standard deviation of all other MLB Teams
“Opp. Pitcher SP Score” – A weighted metric that evaluates today’s starting pitchers based on xFIP and Games Started (currently using partial end of 2020 data blended with the 2021 season)
“Opp. BP Score” – Similar to SP Score but weights the xFIP for the team’s bullpen

DK MLB Stacks

“T2” (and T3/T4/T5) represents the Top 2 projected hitters for the team on the left (not necessarily the top 2 hitters in the batting order)

Stacking is an extremely important element to MLB DFS. In MLB, all of your players are correlated to each other. Outside of solo homeruns, they need each other to succeed. If you look at the top of all of the big GPPs every night you will see stacks dominating the leaderboard.

When using our stacks chart, we want to identify teams that are projecting well but the ownership does not reflect their chance of success.
