Pitching
Robbie Ray: Ray runs into a fantastic matchup vs the Miami Marlins. The Marlins have been a team we like to attack with left-handed pitching. The Marlins have a team strikeout rate over 20% vs lefties and contain multiple players that have close to or above a 30% strikeout rate. Ray is an elite strikeout arm, what we are looking for in DFS. Ray needs to keep his control in check and the ball in the ballpark in order to find success.
Trevor Bauer/Joe Musgrove: These two guys in the same game are my preferred cash options on today’s slate to go along with Ray. The Padres and Dodgers aren’t teams that we are usually looking to target, but we have an elite matchup between Bauer and Musgrove. This is a weaker pitching slate so having the safety of guys who will work deep in the game is important. The Dodgers have a watered-down lineup right now, this makes me prefer Musgrove over Bauer.
Other GPP Targets: T. Rogers, M. King, K. Wright
MLB Top Batters
Batters
C
Gary Sanchez- Sanchez should be back in the Yankees lineup today, he has been the Yankees hottest hitter as of late. I hate giving Sanchez credit, but when you hit 5 home runs in your last 10 starts you have to take notice. Sanchez is my preferred spend-up option vs an extremely poor left in Danny Duffy. The Yankees are sporting a team total in the mid 5s so I want exposure.
Mike Zunino- Zunino has the power upside that we are chasing at the Catcher position. We are always chasing home runs, but especially at C since they don’t provide a lot of speed and stolen bases. Zunino is the #1 catcher in the league in barrel % and second only behind Sal Perez in total barrels. Zunino is having an extremely quiet elite season.
1B
Matt Olson- Olson gets a dream matchup. Folty is one of the worst pitchers in baseball, particularly vs left-handed power hitters. He allows a high iso and HR/9. I think the As are one of the more interesting stacks today, but I would also be fine with using Olson as a one-off.
Yuli Gurriel- Yuli is one of the most underrated hitters in baseball and often goes overlooked in this stacked Astros lineup. The Astros have the highest team total on the slate and I want to stack them as my preferred target on today’s slate.
2B
Jose Altuve- Second base targets are taking advantage of platoon advantages today. Altuve gets a weak opposing arm and leading off on the road. I can see Altuve posting 5-6 ABs today if Houston has the success I think they will. Is anyone going to talk about how good of a season Altuve is having? Near .300 average in a season where averages are down and he’s already hit 16 homeruns with games to go before the ASB. Altuve is always an elite spend-up in this type of setup.
DJ LeMahieu- DJ vs a lefty, I told you guys last week that this always happens when I am on the breakdown. DJ has multi-hit games in 5 of his last 10 games. He has caught fire once again and a matchup vs Danny Duffy won’t be slowing him down. The power + contact upside for a multi-hit or homerun game makes DJ a priority play for me today. The Yankees will be popular and DJ may be my favorite.
3B
Abraham Toro- Toro has been a DFS darling since Bregman has gone down. Draftkings refuses to increase his price and he is a great way to get cheap exposure to the elite Astros team total.
Austin Riley- Riley is an absolute Met killer. It will be a bullpen game today for the Mets since they are dealing with so many injuries. I want to target power here at 3B and Riley for under 4k vs a weaker Mets bullpen that’s overworked is a fantastic spot.
SS
Fransisco Lindor- Lindor is finally starting to hit again, his last 3 haven’t been great but if we zoom out a little we can see Lindor coming around. He’s just too talented of a player to be significantly cheaper than the elite options. He will catch fire and I want to be ahead of that streak.
Carlos Correa- Correa’s ownership strictly depends on where he will hit in the order and that doesn’t make sense to me. I want to be on Correa even if he’s hitting in the bottom half of the order. Correa is a guy that I like to play in a stack, I wouldn’t like to one-off a guy like Correa.
OF
HOU OF- All three Astros OF options are in play today. You can make the argument that you should stack your entire lineup with the Astros OF options. Alvarez has been one of the hottest hitters in baseball and extremely popular in the fantasy community. I am personally always looking to get Kyle Tucker in my lineup, he is one of the best young hitters in baseball.
Yankees OF- The Yankee’s power options are expensive but man are they set up well. It’s going to be difficult to get them in our lineup today due to their prices but if you can, play Judge and wait for the double homerun game.
Austin Meadows- Meadows is Ben’s guy, he has carried this Rays offense in the first half of the season. He has elite power and profiles as someone who should dominate Richard. Richard is a heavy fastball pitcher and Meadows is one of the better fastball hitters in MLB.
Stacks
“Team Batting Score” – A metric that quickly highlights overall team batting based on Runs Created (RC+) by team and comparing it to the average and standard deviation of all other MLB Teams
“Opp. Pitcher SP Score” – A weighted metric that evaluates today’s starting pitchers based on xFIP and Games Started (currently using partial end of 2020 data blended with the 2021 season)
“Opp. BP Score” – Similar to SP Score but weights the xFIP for the team’s bullpen

DK MLB Stacks
“T2” (and T3/T4/T5) represents the Top 2 projected hitters for the team on the left (not necessarily the top 2 hitters in the batting order)
Stacking is an extremely important element to MLB DFS. In MLB, all of your players are correlated to each other. Outside of solo homeruns, they need each other to succeed. If you look at the top of all of the big GPPs every night you will see stacks dominating the leaderboard.
When using our stacks chart, we want to identify teams that are projecting well but the ownership does not reflect their chance of success.
