Welcome to another edition of Bales’ Top GPP Play. In this article, I will outline my favorite MLB GPP play for today’s games. If you want all of my core plays along with our staff’s Final Thoughts article with access to our Discord, click here.
Dominic Smith
Smith looked outstanding last season, posting a .316 average with a .616 slugging percentage and a .993 OPS over 50 games. He owns 32 extra-base hits (10 home runs) with 42 RBIs in those games. Smith also found plenty of success against right-handed pitching, recording a .331 average with a .661 slugging percentage and a 1.032 OPS. He recorded a .425 wOBA and a .331 ISO against righties last season, as well.
Smith gets a great matchup against Chase Anderson tonight. In limited innings last season, Anderson allowed left-handed batters to hit for a .328 average with a .656 slugging percentage and a .431 wOBA. Smith’s expected to hit fifth in the New York Mets lineup tonight. He’ll be playing in one of the more hitter-friendly stadiums in the MLB, as well. Smith’s surprisingly cheap for his upside after a breakout campaign, and I expected him to find success in this particular matchup.
