MLB DFS 8/5/22 – Ben’s Building Blocks | DraftKings & FanDuel Picks

Welcome to our MLB DFS Building Blocks, DraftKings and FanDuel picks for 8/5/22! In this article, I’ll break down by top overall plays for today’s main slate. Last year was an extremely big year for the Karma team in MLB, and we are looking to continue that success in 2022. I will be providing Core Plays for every main slate (and day baseball) this season — you can gain access to that as well as our premium discord here. Let’s get to the plays…

Above is an example of the Core Plays given out to Subscribers on Friday May 13th

Pitcher

We have some huge ownership projections at the SP position tonight, with Dylan Cease and Robbie Ray both showing over 35% projected ownership. Both have high strikeout upside, and strong match-ups against the Rangers and Angels respectively. There’s tons of value on this slate, so spending up for both of them will be my go-to move on DraftKings. On FanDuel, Cease is the clear stand-out. He has less risk than Ray, and higher upside. For tournaments, we can look at several options — with Kyle Gibson and Eric Lauer sticking out above the field. Gibson is a strong play in all formats against the Juan Soto-less Washington Nationals. He doesn’t have the strikeout upside to rival someone like Ray, but he could turn in a really efficient outing in this spot and that coupled with a win could be a really solid score for his salary.

Building Blocks

Brandon Lowe

Anyone that reads my articles knows that Lowe is a big target of mine, and I love him again on Friday. He gets a great match-up against Bryan Garcia and the Tigers woeful bullpen. Lowe has been fantastic since returning from injury, and owns a 50% hard-hit rate over the last seven days. We have him as one of the highest projected players tonight, but he isn’t even $5,000 in salary on DK. He’s my top play in all formats.

Michael Massey

Massey makes sense as an easy value play tonight, projected to bat sixth at minimum price for the Royals. They match up with Josh Winckowski, who has been horrific against left-handed hitters this season. Every lefty in the Royals lineup is in play tonight, Massey being my favorite for a one-off due to his price tag.

Bold Call

Dylan Cease strikes out 10+ Rangers!
