What’s up everyone! We are super excited for the new format now available from our newest partners, OwnersBox Fantasy. This new format is called “Lightning Lineups” and I wrote an article detailing how to win at this format here. They call it the most electric way to play fantasy sports. Essentially, you are presented lineups with sets of three players, and you simply have to choose the lineup that ends up scoring the most points. You have the option to spin for new sets of players as many times as you want, and the more sets of lineups you go against the higher your payout will be. In this daily article, I will be detailing the teams and players I’m targeting. Let’s get to the plays…
Top Players
Aaron Judge- Judge paces our projections tonight with 13 fantasy points, and he looks to have found something at the plate. He is a very streaky hitter, so we like to roster him when he’s homering. After a bomb vs Max Scherzer last night, that could get things rolling to close out the year. Obviously, he has massive power upside against right-handed pitching — but he has a string history against Taijuan Walker as well. It’s a small sample-size, but his three career hits off Walker are all long balls. He also owns over a .600 expected wOBA in those at-bats. I think he is the top-overall player on tonight’s slate.
Randy Arozarena- Similar to Judge, Randy is a guy we want to target when he’s seeing the ball well because he’s one of the streakiest hitters in baseball. He homered yesterday, and it seems he could be finding himself at the plate with 36% hard-hits and 41% fly-balls over the last 14 days. He also matches up with the left-hander Jose Suarez, and he has always crushed lefty pitching during his time with the Rays. Furthermore, Suarez throws a ton of fastballs to right-handed pitching and A-Roz is known as a fastball hitter. Over the last few seasons he has the best splits on the Rays against the pitch, including a .500 ISO. He projects for the third-most points tonight.
Corey Seager- Another guy in a fantastic match-up tonight is Corey Seager (and his teammates) against the corpse of German Marquez. Once a future ace, Marquez has fallen off a cliff this season and has struck out under 20% of batters faced. This Rangers lineup is nothing to write home about, but the lefties have to be in consideration. Marquez is allowing over a .350 wOBA in the split this season. Texas also has a few lefties with solid power — Corey Seager and Nathaniel Lowe. Seager has been the best hitter in this lineup this season, and he fits the profile tonight. Marquez throws mostly fastballs to lefties — Seager sports massive splits against the pitch. He projects for just one point less than Judge tonight.
