MLB DFS (8/2/18) – Bobby’s Batter Up

MLB BATTER UP August 2nd, 2018
  •  This PREMIUM article features top offensive batters per position
  • This includes value plays, upside plays, and contrarian plays
  • Strategic game theory on why we are selecting these batters
  • Advice on the best “Game Stacks” of the day
  • The same players in these articles are the same players you can find in the core of our lineups!

Top Stacks – One of the most important concepts to understand in DFS MLB.  Watch our daily YouTube live podcast for more information on this understanding/mindset.  Keep in mind it is ok to stack 4 guys or 3 from the same team.  This mathematically increases your chances of “cashing” in tournaments.  It isn’t as necessary to stack in cash games (double ups/heads up).  Below is our rankings starting from the best at number 1.

  1. Blue Jays (+141) –   The Blue Jays come into this game on the road guarenteed a full 9 innings of AB’s against the corpse of King Felix.  Don’t let the ballpark scare you off of this elite matchup for the Blue Jays who possess a ton of ISO to get the job ton in GPPs in this ballpark in addition to the suppressed ownership we’ll see due to the west coast start time.  So against RHP this team has 6 hitter’s with an ISO over .200 which categorizes them as eltie power hitters.  This group includes Randal Grichuck (.287 ISO/117 wRC+), Justin Smoak (.265 ISO/139 wRC+), Teoscar Hernandez (.203 ISO/99 wRC+), Kendrys Morales (.201 ISO/ 123 wRC+), and Curtis Granderson (.195 ISO / 113 wRC+) should be staples in your Blue Jays stacks.  This squad should do some damage against Hernandez who is nothing close what he used to be.
          1. Favorite One-Off: Justin Smoak
          2. Best Bet for a home run: Randal Grichuck
  2. Braves (- 166) – The Braves are another team who have 5 players in amazing splits against LHPs which is evident by their 4.8 implied run total.  There is a ton of ISO from this team which lead’s to much higher upsde for the induvidual hitters.  Look at players like Johan Camargo who surprisingly leads the team in ISO at .294 and is closely followed by Freddie Freeman (.268 wRC+/ 168 wRC+), Tyler Flowers (.263 ISO/ 247 wRC+ – wow), Kurt Suzuki (.226 ISO / 120 wRC+), and Ozzie Albies (.220 ISO / 124 wRC+) for your Braves stacks as they (if end up in the starting lineup) should have major contributions towards the 4.8 implied run total which, obviously, I’m more favorable on the over.  Make sure to get exposure on a slate that could end up more chalkier than you’d think.
          1. Favorite One-Off: Freddie Freeman
          2. Best Bet for a home run: Johan Camargo
