MLB DFS 8/17/22 – OwnersBox Best Buys

We are beyond thrilled to “officially” announce our newest partners at OwnersBox. While being well known for their WFS (Weekly Fantasy Sports) product, they have recently launched their first ever DFS platform and have been using none other than Karma Nation to test it! You’re probably asking yourself right now, what is OwnersBox and how are they different?

What is OwnersBox? How are they different?

OwnersBox is the newest DFS lineup platform giving you more lineup flexibility than ANYONE else by creating a “SuperFlex“. For MLB, this roster spot allows you to lock in ANY infielder, ANY outfielder, and ANY starting pitcher! You are also not forced to play any specific position as their MLB lineup is simply 4 infielders, 3 outfielders, 1 starting pitcher, and the 1 SuperFlex spot!

Sounds interesting, how do I sign up?!

Glad you asked! You want to CLICK HERE to download their app on whatever mobile device you own. By doing that and using promo code KARMA, you will automatically get a FREE $5 added to your account! Once you decide to deposit, they will add another FREE $25 to your account, no matter how much you deposit! Make sure you get in our free Discord chat room to join all our 24/7/365 OwnersBox lineup discussions as well!

Top Play – Nolan Gorman

Gorman sticks out as the top value bat tonight. priced at just $3,200 against German Marquez. Marquez has been a shell of his former self this season, pitching to a 4.59 xFIP and only 19% strikeouts. Gorman is one of the best hitters on the Cardinals against right-handed pitching — owning a .334 wOBA and .236 ISO this season. He also matches up well vs his pitch mix. Overall, STL is one of the top offenses on this slate and getting a top-three batter in their order is a go-to for me tonight even as a potential one-off.

Top Pitcher – Carlos Rodon

We have a pair of aces on the Wednesday night slate, with both Max Scherzer and Carlos Rodon toeing the rubber. If choosing one, however, I think we have to side with Rodon against the Arizona Diamondbacks. For starters, Rodon is pretty much the only guy on the slate that can truly match Scherzer’s strikeout upside. We also have him projected for more fantasy points than Max tonight, and with them being the same price Rodon is the clear choice. He has absolutely dominated Arizona in his career as well, with a .272 expected wOBA allowed and 34% strikeouts in 62 PA. I think he has the highest floor/ceiling combo on Wednesday night and he is a must play for me.

Top Super-Flex Play – Cal Quantrill

We are once again gifted a pitcher below $9,000 in a great match-up, and it’s hard to not to plug him into our Super-Flex spot tonight. Quantrill hasn’t been good this season, but neither has the Tigers offense and something has to give tonight. Detroit’s projected lineup tonight owns a 25% strikeout rate and .262 wOBA against right-handed pitching. I do wish he was a bit cheaper, but he has upside in this spot and should probably be over $9,000 in salary. Locking him in alongside one of the aces allows us to still spend up for bats, and I believe that to be the optimal build strategy on Wednesday night.
