Welcome in to Spike’s Building Blocks for DraftKings & FanDuel! This is a free article written daily to identify my top-overall DFS plays for cash/gpp games and small-field contests on both DraftKings and FanDuel. I truly appreciate everyone that reads and supports the content. If you’d like to support further you can click HERE to sign-up for a MLB Premium package. This gets you access to my Core Plays daily — allowing you to tail my builds, access the premium Discord channels and view our DFS Projections Portal. This Portal also gives all of your cash and gpp plays as well as our players to fade! We’ve been on fire already this MLB season, and there’s no better time to sign-up. With that being said, let’s dive into today’s slate…
Top Pitchers
Gerrit Cole
Cole has been having a very good season so far. Sporting a 27% strikeout rate along with hard contact under 40% with a 6.7% walk rate. Gerrit also boasts an xwOBA of .298 and an xBA of.234. The matchup against The Marlins is decent enough for an ace like himself. 85% of Miami’s roster has a strikeout rate north of 20% so I don’t think Gerrit will have any issues striking these guys out and should be able to stymie any offensive production as well. Rostering Cole in any league makes a ton of sense and he will be a top priority for me across all sites.
Sonny Gray
Sonny might be the easiest play for the day. I don’t see a ton of reason for him to be priced at 8.3k on DraftKings but I will gladly taken advantage of it. Coming off of two games where he combined for 18 strikeouts, Gray gets a good matchup against The Phillies. They have been inconsistent on offense and Gry has just been pitching good lately. This shouldn’t be any secret either, Gray should be north of 35% owned if not higher. Nonetheless, he is an extremely viable option across all contests as well!
Building Blocks
Cody Bellinger
Here’s another guy who has been on fire lately. Bellinger is rocking a .331 BA and has put up 12 or more DraftKings points in 9 of his last 15 games. With a matchup against Jin Ryu, Cody is once again in a favorable spot. Not only does he crush 4 seamers but he also enjoys changeups with a .439 BA and wOBA of .520. Ryu thorws his change up 25% of the time with his 4 seamer being 44.7% of the time. That is a ton of opportunity for Bellinger, not to mention the other two pitches Ryu throws he hits well too (Cutter and Curveball).
My favorite stack for today is going to be The Cubs against Ryu! Other teams to stack that I am interested in are The Angels and The Reds!
Spike’s Fun Fact of the Day
The most valuable baseball card ever is a 1909 Honus Wagner T206 baseball card, worth about 2.8 million!
