With that being said, let’s dive into today’s slate…
Top Pitchers
Jesus Luzardo
Pitching is interesting today as there aren’t a ton of aces or elite pitchers. Luzardo sticks out to me the more I look into him. Phillies have looked pretty good on the offensive side but they also tend to strikeout a lot. Luzardo is giving up hard contact 39% of the time to go along with a strikeout rate of 29% and a walk rate of 6.2%. Bottom line, Jesus has looked great this year and should be able to stymie this Philadelphia offense. Great play in cash game as well as tournaments.
Aaron Nola
On the other side of the ball we have Nola. Aaron has had mixed results this year but overall has been a solid pitcher. Nola has been sporting similiar numbers as Luzardo. 25% strikeout rate, 6.6% walk rate and hard contact 36% of the time. The total on this game is 7.5 runs and it is favored under. This should be a pitchers duel and I am more than fine with using both in the same lineup! Nola comes with 10+ strikeout upside and can pitch deep into games which helps from a DFS persepective.
Building Blocks
Max Kepler
The Twins are in a good spot today against Gibson and The Orioles. I was back and forth between Kepler and Kirilloff but deciced to stick with Max. gibson throws a good variety of pitches but the majority of them have been good to Kepler this year. Kyle throws a sinker (25.5%), changeup (18.1%), cutter (17.3%) and a 4 seamer (13.9%) with sprinkles of a curve at 7.9%. Max is decent with the 4 seamer but has above average numbers on the other 3 pitches thrown more that 17% of the time. It should be around 85 degrees today with winds blowing outwards up to 18 MPH! This is solid hitting weather and I don’t think it will be much of a secret.
My favorite stack for today is going to be The Red Sox’s against Sears! Other teams to stack that I am interested in are The Twins and The Rangers!
Spike’s Fun Fact of the Day
Babe Ruth used to be a good pitcher but back then, DH was not yet a thing so he couldn’t do both in the same game. At one point a decision was made for him to be a permanent hitter over pitching, that turned out to be one of the best decisions ever!
