MLB DFS 7/30/23 – Spike’s Building Blocks for DraftKings & FanDuel

Welcome in to Spike’s Building Blocks for DraftKings & FanDuel! This is a free article written daily to identify my top-overall DFS plays for cash/gpp games and small-field contests on both DraftKings and FanDuel. I truly appreciate everyone that reads and supports the content. If you’d like to support further you can click HERE to sign-up for a MLB Premium package. This gets you access to my Core Plays daily — allowing you to tail my builds, access the premium Discord channels and view our DFS Projections Portal. This Portal also gives all of your cash and gpp plays as well as our players to fade! We’ve been on fire already this MLB season, and there’s no better time to sign-up. With that being said, let’s dive into today’s slate…

Top Pitchers

Jesus Luzardo

Another interesting pitching slate where we don’t have a ton of aces so ownership should be spread out. Luzardo comes in as my top play at pitcher. Sporting a 29.5 strikeout rate along with a walk rate of only 6.5%. Jesus also comes with ton of upside and a matchup against Detroit is great for him. The Tigers actually haven’t been terrible on offense but they’re inconsistent and also tend to strikeout a good amount. Luzardo has been better when playing in Miami, he has gone over 22 fantasy points in 8 of 10 games at home this year. Miami is also favored to win and I could see Jesus pitching 7-8 innings here. Perfect player for all contests and should be a priority today!

Michael Kopech

We have seen Kopech be very inconsistent at times this year but I am looking at him today. The rest of the top tier pitching is too expensive for me to be willing to use. Kopech is only 7.4k and comes wtih plenty of upside to hit his value. Michael actually faced this same team a couple months ago and nerly had 10 strikeouts. Now, I don’t think it is feasible to expect the same results but I think we can expect something similar. The Guardians aren’t a team that makes a ton of hard contact but they can hit the ball. Kopech comes in as more of a GPP play but is great for salary relief and lets you spend up on your bats.

Building Blocks

Brandon Nimmo

I have always been a big fan of this guy and I finally get a chace to write him up! Nimmo gets a date against Trevor Williams and the Nationals. Porjected to lead off, Brandon is a very versatile player. He can grab you hits, steal bases and hit the occasional homerun. Williams throws a plethora of pitches and all but one are pitches that Nimmo has been hitting very well. Brandon should see Williams a minimum of 2 times if not 3. I simply can’t ignore how good of a spot this is and he can be used as a one off and is a must in a stack if you go that route!

My favorite stack for today is going to be The Braves against Rea! Other teams to stack that I am interested in are The Mets and The Cubs!

Spike’s Fun Fact of the Day

Ken Griffey Sr. and Ken Griffey Jr became the first faster and son to play in the majors as teammates for the Martiners in 1990. On september 14th, 1990, they hit back to back dingers which was another first for the father-son duo!
