Welcome to our MLB DFS Building Blocks, DraftKings and FanDuel picks for 7/30/22! In this article, I’ll break down by top overall plays for today’s main slate. We have already found a lot of success to start the year off and there is plenty more to come! A big KARMA takedown is imminent and only a matter of time. I will be providing Core Plays for every main slate (and day baseball) this season — you can gain access to that as well as our premium discord here. You can also try out the Core Plays package with a $5 day pass. Let’s get to the plays…
Pitcher
This is a tough slate for pitching. Even though he is in Coors, Clayton Kershaw sticks out for me. He doesn’t give up a lot of hard contact (only 33%) and has a strikeout rate close to 30%. Colorado has been bad recently even at home and due to lack of options, this is my SP1 here. Kershaw is acdeptable on fanduel as well! SP2 gets even more dicey as nobody really sticks out above the rest. Framber Valdez looks like a solid option here. There are certain pieces from Seattle that are good but they still strikeout a lot. Valdez doesn’t give up a ton of hard contact (37%) and his strikeout rate is decent where it is at (22%). Guys like Joe Musgrove and Johnny Cueto are also acceptable options but just not as high on my board.
Mookie Betts
A game in Coors is a recipe for success for this man. With hard contact nearly half his at-bats, he makes for a solid play against the lefty in Kyle Freeland. Kyle has been pretty awful all year round and I expect this Dodgers team to feast on him. Freelands top two pitches are his slider and his fastball. Betts has had a combied 21 homeruns off those pitches this year. It’s an elite spot and won’t be a secret but startig your builds with him is a very smart start.
Matt Olson
The former Athletic gets a great matchup toay against Arizona and Corbin Martin. He is haing a fantastic year while hitting over 50% hard contact and walking over 11% of the time. He loves hitting fastballs against right handed pitching. Corbin throws that pitch 55% of the time. Weather should be nice here with humidity around 80% and weather in the 80’s as well. There is a chance of rain but that doesn’t bother me as it should play out. Arizona doesn’t have a very good bullpen either and are worse on the road.
