We’ve been on fire already this MLB season, and there’s no better time to sign-up. With that being said, let’s dive into today’s slate…
Top Pitchers
Spencer Strider
We got a couple aces on the mound today which includes Strider. spencer gets a date against The Diamondbacks in Arizona. This is considered a more hitter friendly park but when you have one of the best pitchers in the league pitching, it doesn’t really matter. Arizona has actually been hitting well lately but Strider’s pitching is better. Sporting a 42% strikeout rate to go along with an xBA of .176, it is easy to see why Strider is an ace. Atlanta is heavily favored as well, Strider is a cash game lock for me and an extremely good option for GPP’s as well!
Logan Allen
As much as I love Gerrit Cole, Allen is in a better spot. Logan gets a date against the Twins who have been very inconsistent. Winds Should be blowing in nearly 10 MPH but it will be close to 90 degrees out. I like being able to spend down here so we can spend up more on our batters. Minnesota strikes out the most in the league per game, averaging nearly 11 strikeouts. Allen sports a 25% strikeout rate along with walking batters only 6% of the time. Outside of a couple of batters, Allen should be able to handle the majority of this lineup and is a great SP2 option on DK and a good GPP option for both sides as well.
Building Blocks
Austin Riley
Used him in a prop play this morning as well but Riley has a great matchup tonight. Nelson is on the mound for Arizona and he just hasn’t looked very good so far. 15% strikeout rate and giving up hard contact 40% of the time, with an xBA of .267 and an xwOBA of .335 makes this entire Braces team look very enticing. Ryne’s top 3 pitches are his 4 seamer, cutter and slider. All of these pitches are ones that Riley has had great success with this year and as I mentioned above with Strider, this is a hitter friendly ballpark.
My favorite GPP stack for today is going to be The Giants against Bradish. Other teams to stack that I am interested in are The Braves and The Cubs!
Spike’s Fun Fact of the Day
At one point, balls that went through the outfield fence or bounced over it were called homeruns!
