MLB DFS 6/26/23 – Ben’s Building Blocks for DraftKings & FanDuel

Welcome in to Ben’s Building Blocks for DraftKings & FanDuel! This is a free article written daily to identify my top-overall DFS plays for cash game and small-field contests on both DraftKings and FanDuel. I truly appreciate everyone that reads and supports the content. If you’d like to support further you can click HERE to sign-up for a MLB Premium package. This gets you access to my Core Plays daily — allowing you to tail my builds, access the premium Discord channels and view our DFS Projections Portal. We’ve been on fire already this MLB season, and there’s no better time to sign-up. With that being said, let’s dive into today’s slate…

Above is an example of my MLB Core Plays for the 4/27 slate

Top Pitchers

Spencer Strider

There’s no doubt who the top pitcher on Monday’s slate will be and that is our old friend Spencer Strider. We have just a small six game slate tonight, and there are some serious weather concerns in two of the games — which means we very well could end up with a four game slate. Regardless of if it’s six, five or four, Strider is carrying a 60% ownership projection in our Projections Portal and I won’t be shocked if he ends up even higher than that. On top of that massive ownership projection, he is priced at nearly $13,000 on DK making him a tough click in GPPs. Overall, a mid-level game from him could be the top points scorer on the slate so I understand those wanting to just jam in 100% of him, but I think it’s fine to skip over him in tournaments. For cash games, however, you simply can’t avoid him against one of the worst teams in baseball in terms of strikeouts as a team.

Outside of Strider you also have an expensive Luis Castillo catching a greater than 45% ownership tag. I think it’s smart to anchor your double-up/H2H lineups with these guys but I’m not sure if I think they’re worth the salary in larger-field contests.

Dylan Cease

One guy I love tonight in all formats is Dylan Cease. Cease has been inconsistent this season, but that is baked into a low $7,700 price tag and he’s began to turn things around recently. Over the last 30 days, his SIERA is back down below 3.60 and that comes with a huge increase in strikeouts. He’s always going to have some control concerns, but this price-tag is too low for someone with his upside. Cease is my favorite option in all formats on Monday night – and I think he can be used in cash games as well alongside Strider.

Building Blocks

Leodys Taveras

Given that we might lose some games to weather, offense gets affected way more than pitching especially when one of the games is BAL/CIN that features a 10 run total. Texas will be the clear chalk stack tonight against Matthew Boyd – they own the highest team total on the board at 5.5 runs and have been an offensive juggernaut at home. We will need to find some ways to be different on a slate this size, so plugging in the Rangers number 9 hitter should be a way to do so. He’s been exceptional against left-handed pitching this season and matches up well against Boy’d pitch mix. He can be used along with your Rangers stack, or as a one-off on all sites tonight.
