MLB DFS 6/19/22 – Spike’s Building Blocks | DraftKings & FanDuel Picks

HAPPY FATHERS DAY!! Welcome to our MLB DFS Building Blocks, DraftKings and FanDuel picks for 6/19/22! In this article, I’ll break down by top overall plays for today’s main slate. We have already found a lot of success to start the year off and there is plenty more to come! A big KARMA takedown is imminent and only a matter of time. I will be providing Core Plays for every main slate (and day baseball) this season — you can gain access to that as well as our premium discord here. You can also try out the Core Plays package with a $5 day pass. Let’s get to the plays…

Pitcher

Chris Bassitt

My first option that is nearly a lock for me is Bassitt. He gets a solid matchup against Miami with winds blowing inwards around 10-15 mph. He is a little underpriced for how he has been pitching. Outside of a couple outlier games, he has been pitching fantastic this year.  Only giving up hard contact 35% of the time to go along iwth a strikeout rate of 26% and a xwOBA of .305 which are great numbers. Miami strikes out more than your average club and don’t make a lot of hard contact. He makes for an elite option today and is my clear SP1.

Luis Severino

I am a little bias being a NYY fan but he has gotten back to outstanding pitching this year. Against this current Toronto roster, he owns a 36% strikeout rate to go along iwth an xwOBA of .263! Luis doesn’t walk a lot of guys (6.1%) and the Blue Jays have been hot and cold recently. The only worrisome thing for me here is they don’t strikeout a lot. This should make for an interesting matchup considering Severino has been solid in this department this year. I would consider him more of a GPP option for your SP2 or your FD pitcher but he comes with plenty of upside to break the slate!

BONUS: Sandy Alcantara is a great option that is going way overlooked today. I don’t mind stacking that game with pitching as it should be low scoring with the arms on the mound.

Building Blocks

DJ LeMahieu

DJ gets a solid matchup against the struggling Yusei Kikuchi. He has been spiraling downhill as the season progresses and he gets a very tough matchup today. I believe he is your must have for the Yankees outside of the obvious Aaron Judge. On the surface his numbers don’t seem great but the more you dig, the better they look. Kikuchi likes to throw two pitches a lot and those are the fastball and the slider. LeMahieu sports a .307 xISO against that pitch from lefties and a .280 xISO from lefties with the fastball.  This makes for a thrilling spot for him at a 4.6K price tag on DK.

Ryan Mountcastle

Another Sunday, another Mountcastle write up! This guy has been on fire recently and had a double dong day not too long ago. He has been the brightest spot for this team and is still pretty cheap across both sites. He makes hard contact ovr 50% of the time and gets a very solid matchup against Corey Kluber. Kluber’s top three pitches are all ones that Ryan hits very well. He has an xISO over .315 on all of them and comes with massive upside today. I prefer him as a one off and in tournaments as their are simply other obvious options for cash games. My GPP’s will start with him and I will build from there!

Bold Call

DJ LeMahieu hits for a cycle!!!
