MLB DFS 6/14/22 – Spike’s Building Blocks | DraftKings & FanDuel Picks

Welcome to our MLB DFS Building Blocks, DraftKings and FanDuel picks for 6/14/22! In this article, I’ll break down by top overall plays for today’s main slate. We have already found a lot of success to start the year off and there is plenty more to come! A big KARMA takedown is imminent and only a matter of time. I will be providing Core Plays for every main slate (and day baseball) this season — you can gain access to that as well as our premium discord here. You can also try out the Core Plays package with a $5 day pass. Let’s get to the plays…

Pitcher

Gerrit Cole

Cole is not someone who needs a lot of introduction. He has been pitching well to start the year off and gets a solid matchup against Tampa Bay tonight. With the current roster the Rays have, Cole boasts a 34% strikeout rate and has an xBA of .218. He has been giving up some hard contact but I am not too worried about it with a still watered down version of this team. He is my clear SP1 for tonight. I believe last game was a fluke where he gave up a ton of homeruns and it most likely will not happen again all year. Maybe we will ge lucky and get semi low owned with how bad he did last game but that’s just wishful thinking at this point.

Nick Pivetta

I believe I wrote Pivetta up in the same spot the last time he pitched against Oakland. Not much has changed as he had a fantastic day and I expect similar results again. Oakland just continues to throw out these triple A lineups after their fire sale and they are a team we have attacked a lot. Pivetta has a 35% strikeout rate against them. To top that off, 80% of their roster strikes out more than 20% of the time. He should pitch a good six or seven innings tonight and might go overlooked. Dylan Cease is $100 cheaper on Draft Kings and in a solid spot as well which should keep Nick’s ownership down.

BONUS: Yusei Kikuchi is looking like a solid value option in the mid tier range. Baltimore tends to strike out a lot and he has been pitching better as of late!

Building Blocks

Julio Daniel Martinez

AKA J.D. has been hitting at an elite level this year. His batting average is nearly .350 and he can belt the occasional homerun as well. He gets a solid matchup against Jared Koenig and the A’s who for the most part have been abysmal pitching wise. He has not been effective this year so far and Boston should have field day against him here. Martinez should get at least two at bats against him and is projected to hit third in the lineup. He is cheap considering his upside and is one of my favorite plays on this big slate tonight!

Nolan Arenado

Given the fact that it is a Coors slate, the majority of cash games should flood with Jose Ramirez. I have zero issues with it as he is an elite play. For those who do not want to play the chalk (and he is over 6k) Nolan Arenado looks like a great pivot to him. Nolan has 11 homeruns on the year and eight of those have come off fastballs. Naturally, Bryse Wilson throws his fastball vastly more than any other pitch. The Cardinals have a doubleheader today, which should keep his ownership lower. It should be another hot one today as well with temperatures in the upper 90’s which is optimal weather for hitters. Wilson also has a low strikeout rate (17.5%) and a high walkout rate (11%) which should help get him on base and get him an extra at bat.

Bold Call

Julio Daniel posts 8 Total bases!!
