MLB DFS 6/12/23 – Ben’s Building Blocks for DraftKings & FanDuel

Welcome in to Ben’s Building Blocks for DraftKings & FanDuel! This is a free article written daily to identify my top-overall DFS plays for cash game and small-field contests on both DraftKings and FanDuel. I truly appreciate everyone that reads and supports the content. If you’d like to support further you can click HERE to sign-up for a MLB Premium package. This gets you access to my Core Plays daily — allowing you to tail my builds, access the premium Discord channels and view our DFS Projections Portal. We’ve been on fire already this MLB season, and there’s no better time to sign-up. With that being said, let’s dive into today’s slate…

Above is an example of my MLB Core Plays for the 4/27 slate

Top Pitchers

Chalk James Paxton + the Field

We have a medium-sized seven game slate, and I can honestly say this is one of my least-favorite pitching slates of the entire MLB season. James Paxton is projecting for over 50% ownership against the Colorado Rockies, while nobody else in the player pool is projecting for over 18 fantasy points. I hate slates where I feel as if I have to play an average pitcher at massive ownership in cash games, but that’s exactly what we have tonight. If you read my content, you know I’ve actually been high on Paxton and have played him almost every start. Even then, I don’t think he is really warranted for this type of ownership on any slate. I will be plugging him into my main lineup, but wouldn’t blame anyone for fading him in tournaments.

I think spending all the way up for Zach Eflin makes some sense. I think he is the best-overall pitcher on the slate, but due to an $11K price-tag he will likely not see the ownership he should on a slate this size. Jesus Luzardo will pick up some ownership, as well as Logan Webb. Eflin + Paxton is likely the optimal pairing for cash games, so spending down is likely the best move in GPPs tonight.

Building Blocks

Mitch Garver + Texas Rangers

Texas will likely be my go-to team on Monday night as they square off with Tyler Anderson. Anderson has fallen off for the Angels this season, pitching to a near 5.50 xERA and striking out just 14% of batters faced. Texas has been one of the best teams in baseball against left-handed pitching this season, with their projected lineup sporting a .408 wOBA and .198 ISO in the split. Garver is just recently returning to the lineup, but has always been a player that excelled against left-handed pitching and that has carried over in a limited sample-size this season as well. With no slam-dunk SP options, I’m more inclined to jam in an expensive stack I love and the Rangers fit that mold. Marcus Semien, Corey Seager, Adolis Garcia, Mitch Garver and Jonah Heim stick out as the top options for me on DraftKings.

Triston Casas

If you’re looking for value tonight, Triston Casas stands out and our Projections Portal has him graded as one of the top values on the slate tonight. Boston will be one of the more popular spots against Connor Seabold, and I liked that I’ve seen from Casas at the plate recently. He has one of the highest fly-ball rates in baseball over the last seven days, and his numbers are against right-handed pitching are above-average this season. He matches up well against Seabold’s pitch-mix, and can be used in a stack or as a one-off on Monday evening.
