We’ve been on fire already this MLB season, and there’s no better time to sign-up. With that being said, let’s dive into today’s slate…
Top Pitchers
Joe Ryan
This is a pretty tough pitching slate after looking into it. There are a handful of guys who COULD have good/great games but going against offenses that are just inconsistent. This inlcudes Ryan but I also think he has the best chances to succeed. Outside of about 4 batters, Toronto doesn’t have a lot of guys who make good hard contact. Joe’s numbers this ear have been impressive, sporting a 29% strikeout rate to go with a walk rate of 5% along with hard contact under 40% with an xBA of just .200! Ryan will be a priority for me and makes for an excellent option all around for today’s slate.
Secondary/GPP Pitcher
Like I said above, there are some pitchers that could have big games today. I don’t have one locked down for my SP2 yet but I will outline some of the guys I am looking at. Taj Bradley is in an interesting spot against The Rangers. Outside of last night, Texas has been putting up very impressive numbers but Glasnow shut them down yesterday. Bradley isn’t in the same tier as Glasnow but he has shown us so far this year that he belongs in the MLB and has some great pitches. Bobby Miller is another guy that really intrigues me, Phillies offense has been very inconsistent and Miller has looked great so far in 3 starts. Bobby is pretty cheap to grab and could help you spend up on some batters later in your lineup construction. Other guys I have interest in are Sandy Alcantara and MacKenzie Gore.
Building Blocks
Luis Arraez
I want to start this off by saying that Arraez is arguably the hottest hitter in the MLB right now. Sporting a .400 BA and while he doesn’t get a lot of homeruns (1 on the year) he makes up for it with hits (71) and RBI’s (30). Luis gets a date against Michael Kopech and The White Sox’s. Kopech has actually been pitching better as of late but Arraez has been hot all year long. Luis has consistently been grabbing hits and getting on base. Kopech throws two main pitches in the 4 seam fastball (63%) and the slider (24%). Both of these pitches are ones that Arraez loves to hit with a BA over .400 on both of them. The other two pitches he throws are the changeup (6.9%) and a curveball (6.2%) which again, Luis sports a .400 batting average against. To top this off, he also is only striking out 4.5% of the time which is an insane stat! Arraez is one of my favorite non coors team plays today and will be a priority for me in my lineup configuration!
My favorite stack for today is going to be The Padres against Freeland! Other teams to stack that I am interested in are The Diamondbacks and The Marlins!
Spike’s Fun Fact of the Day
Cy Young still holds the record for the longest hitless streak in baseball at 24 consecutive hitless innings!
