We’ve been on fire already this MLB season, and there’s no better time to sign-up. With that being said, let’s dive into today’s slate…
Top Pitchers
Framber Valdez
Here we are going back to Valdez. We just saw Hunter Brown demolish this Oakland team last night and Valdez is just as good if not better than him. The A’s have been extremely disappointing so far and I don’t see that stopping anytime soon. Vaaldez is sporting a near 28% strikeout rate to go along with walking batters at a mere 4.6% of the time. His hard contact rate isn’t great but Oakland doesn’t have a lot of guys hitting the ball hard either way. I could really see him striking out 10+ like his team mate did last night. Framber is a top priority for me and should be used across all formats!
Secondary Arms
Once again, I am not really sold on any of the other pitchers but do think a few of them boast a lot of upside. Luis Castillo against the Pirates seems enticing and I will likely take shot on him. Pablo Lopez, Logan Webb and Zach Wheeler are on my radar as well. Castillo has the best matchup based play for me but there are plenty of scenario’s where Wheeler and Webb can have success as well. If I were to rank these guys I would go Castillo/Webb/Wheeler. They are all viable options in tournaments or for a second SP on DraftKings.
Building Blocks
Jarred Kelenic
I There are mixed reports on who is starting for Pittsburgh but more signs point to it being Velasquez. Either way if it is him or Contreras I really like Kelenic. Jarred has been enjoying one hell of a season with 10 homeruns, 25 RBI’s and a BA of .279. Two pitches that he hits extremely well are the fastball and the slider. Velasquez throws those pitches nearly 90% of the time which bodes well for Jarred. Projected to be batting cleanup which leaves plenty of room for big upside, he makes for an excellent play on this large slate.
My favorite GPP stack for today is going to be The Astro’s against Harris. Other teams to stack that I am interested in are The Mariners and The Rangers!
Spike’s Fun Fact of the Day
Nolan Ryan still holds the record for most strikeouts!
