Great weather for baseball! Welcome to our MLB DFS Building Blocks, DraftKings and FanDuel picks for 5/22/22! In this article, I’ll break down by top overall plays for today’s main slate. We have already found a lot of success to start the year off and there is plenty more to come! A big KARMA takedown is imminent and only a matter of time. I will be providing Core Plays for every main slate (and day baseball) this season — you can gain access to that as well as our premium discord here. You can also try out the Core Plays package with a $5 day pass. Let’s get to the plays…
Pitcher
Shane Bieber
He hasn’t gotten off to a particularily great start but it hasn’t been bad either. Beiber gets a matchup against Detroit who have been striking out a ton. In fact, more than half their team strikes out at a rate over 25%. This is a solid spot to get back on track for the young ace. It also hel[ps that winds should be blowing inwards and it’ll be under 60 degrees which favors pitching. Because of how he has started the year his price is down across the board and makes him a solid option as a SP1 on this afternoon slate.
Freddy Peralta
One of the few bright spots in this rotation,Peralta has been solid in his last five starts. Capping at 10 strikeouts on his last outing and has upside for more. Against this current Nationals roster, he boasts a 32.4% strikeout rate and a xwOBA of 0.235. Besides a few solid hitters, there are a lot of strikeouts to be found against them. The only thing that is slightly worrisome is winds blowing outwards aroud 12 mph. Early Vegas odds also seem to favor Peralta as a solid option. Washington is only prrojected for about 3 runs. I expect him to get some ownership but it is well warranted and is another solid SP for todays slate.
BONUS: I see nothing wrong with going to Yusei Kikuchi again as his price barely went up and he gets a date with Cincinnati in Toronto. This is a guy with plenty of upside and allows you to get a more expensive stack/one-offs. He isn’t a secret though as he is projecting for ownership in the low 20’s. The Reds have been pretty bad to start the year and Kikuchi has been getting his act together recently making him another solid option today.
Building Blocks
Christian Yelich
Milwaukee in general looks like a solid option today. Yelich in particular looks fanatastic! He goes up against Aaron Sanchez and the Nats. Sanchez is allowing hard hit balls at an alarming 54.9% rate which is just absurdly bad. Christian has had five hits in his last three games and is heating up. I mentioned before with Peralta that winds are blowing outwards which for Yelich is just another added bonus. I actually prefer a stack here but he also makes for a solid one off. He should be owned a little bit as early projections have him around 17-18%.
Ty France
Alright, so maybe it was just bad luck that Eovaldi got lit up for 5 homeruns his last time out. I personally don’t see it that way and think Seattle will have their way with him today. France is a guy I have talked about before and he has cooled down since then but still has six home runs along with 28 RBI’s. His batting average is at .323 and he is looking like a solid option today. He is only striking out 10% of the time and that is one of the best in the league for how often he is at the plate. His price is down across both sites as well and our projection portal has him looking like great value as well. Projecting for sub 10% ownership is great leverage and he could very well have himself a day here.
Bold Call
Ty France has a double dong day!
