Welcome to our MLB DFS Building Blocks, DraftKings and FanDuel picks for 5/11/22! In this article, I’ll break down by top overall plays for today’s main slate. Last year was an extremely big year for the Karma team in MLB, and we are looking to continue that success in 2022. I will be providing Core Plays for every main slate (and day baseball) this season — you can gain access to that as well as our premium discord here. Let’s get to the plays…
Pitcher
Shane McClanahan + Shohei Ohtani
This is a weird pitching slate, with McClanahan and Ohtani sticking out well above the rest of the pitching options. These have been two of the best pitchers in all of baseball this season — with Shane O Mac ranking first in baseball in CSW%. Both have dominant strikeout ability and are in match-ups against teams with strikeouts to be had in their lineup. I prefer these slates, because I feel like I don’t need to overthink SP and I can simply plug in the top two options and worry about my stacks.
The aforementioned two will be the highest-owned options most likely, and there are some good options to pivot to like Tylor Megill and Nathan Eovaldi. There are also some cheaper options Joey Wentz, but I think I would still lean towards the double-spend up even in GPPs.
Building Blocks
Corey Seager
I love this spot for the Rangers on Wednesday night against Brady Singer. Singer has been working out of the bullpen, but will make his return to the rotation tonight. Singer was pretty mediocre for the Royals last season, and is significantly worse vs left-handed batters. He throws a ton of sinkers, which is good news for Seager. Over the last few seasons, he has some of the best numbers on this team vs sinkers including a .520 wOBA. He’s also clearly been the best hitter in this lineup this season. Overall, Texas has one of the bigger team totals tonight and I agree with the spot being good making Seager a top option.
Juan Yepez
Outside of the Rangers, St. Louis is in a great spot against Spenser Watkins. Watkins has been one of the luckiest pitcher in baseball this season sporting a sub-4.00 ERA despite a 6.06 expected ERA. He strikes out just 10% of batters and allows a lot of hard-contact. Yepez has been great for the Cardinals since joining the lineup posting a huge 57% hard-hit rate. I will likely be focused on a Rangers/Cardinals stack tonight and Yepez is the top value play on Wednesday night for me.
Bold Call
