MLB DFS 5/07/22 – Spike’s Building Blocks | DraftKings & FanDuel Picks

Welcome to our MLB DFS Building Blocks, DraftKings and FanDuel picks for 4/22/22! In this article, I’ll break down by top overall plays for today’s main slate. Last year was an extremely big year for the Karma team in MLB, and we are looking to continue that success in 2022. I will be providing Core Plays for every main slate (and day baseball) this season — you can gain access to that as well as our premium discord here. You can also try out the Core Plays package with a $5 day pass. Let’s get to the plays…

Pitcher

Corbin Burnes

We have played him a lot this yer and for good reason. He is still looking like the great pitcher he was last year with a little bit of bad luck to begin the year. He has a 35.5% strikeout rate which is up in the top 10 for pitchers this year so far along with a walk rate of merely 5.8%.  Nearly every Atlanta Brave is striking out north of 20% as well. Now I don’t think he will be a secret or low owned by any means but he is a solid play and necessary in cash lineups for me tonight. I will also add that he loves his lsider and Atlanta has struggled with that pitch a little bit which should only help his case.

Sean Manaea

For my SP2 I am looking no further than Sean Manaea. He gets a solid matchup against the Marlins tonight and has been pitching well for his new team.  While he only casts a small net in variety of pitches, the few he throws are very strong. His sinker is second to none and could give this team some trouble as they struggle with it and also strikeout a good amount. More than half of this Marlins team has a hard hit rate of under 40% and a strikeout rate of over 25%. Seemingly at the same time, Manaea also sports a strikeout rte of 24.8% which should lead to a lot of them tonight making his upside very strong.

BONUS: If you want to take a shot on Tyler Anderson for some value and savings it could be worth your while! Winds are blowing in at Wrigley Field tonight and the Cubs aren’t a team I am very scared of when talking about offense. If Anderson gets 15 FP’s I consider that a win at his price tag across both sites.

Building Blocks

Christian Walker

I am going right back to the well tonight with Arizona. They did well against this pourous pitching last night and I see reasons it will happen again. Walker is a guy I am really targeting because he has a solid matchup against the lefty in Kyle Freeland. Against this current Arizona roste he has a FIP of 6.52 which is just terrible. Walker has a hard hit rate just south of 50% and a xSLG of .614 coming into the night. Not to mention that Freeland is worse against righties and is sporting an ERA of nearly 5. Walker has a lot of power and can hit a lot of pitches well which makes for a solid play across the board. I plan on using him and other Diamondbacks in my main lineup.

Nolan Arenado

Talk about another guy who has started off the year hot! Logn Webb has been decent through out his career but currently owns just a 7.9% strikeout rate against this current lineup. Nolan has been hitting and seeing the ball very well lately and he packs tons of power into his swings. Let’s also add in the fact that winds should be blowing 20 MPH out and this make for an intersting option to say the least. Normally winds at this park are irrlevant but when they’re blowing this hard you have to put them into consideration. He is aslo only striking out 13.4% of the time which is a sold number when you look at the league average. He already has seven homeruns on the year and this is a great spot to collect another one if not two. Even when the bullpen comes in I expect some success from him and he is something I am looking to fit into my lineup as a one off on this slate.

Bold Call

Arizona hits 5 Homeruns!
