Lineup Optimizer Strategy Picks for MLB 5/31/22

Welcome everyone to our Lineup Optimizer strategy article for 5/31/22. This is a new article I will be doing daily that discusses the stacks and players the optimizer is popping for today’s slate. We are very blessed to have out optimizer powered by SaberSim — and you can get access by clicking HERE. Let’s get into it…

Overview

Absolutely massive slate tonight, with no real weather concerns. I will be focusing on my usual single entry tournaments on DraftKings.

Top Stacks

On slates like these, there are truly tons of ways to go. I’m certain that Cristian Javier is my top overall pitcher, so I went ahead and locked him into my 500 lineups. I think SP2 can be a cheaper arm, but there are enough cheaper stacks to fit in a double-spend build as well. I left the second pitcher open in my run of lineups. I also chose not to remove the Coors game, but it’s unlikely I go there on this big of a slate.

And here are the results — the simulations love the Brewers tonight with them lapping the field at a 50% exposure. I thought they would be higher-owned, but when I checked projected OWN% for stacks they are right around five or six on this slate as opposed to top two. They’re very cheap, and it’s relatively easy to fit in a Brewers stack with two expensive pitchers tonight. The match-up is good against Justin Steele, he throws a lot of fastballs so that is where we want to attack him. Milwaukee is not a great fastball hitting team, but most of the players we want vs left-handed pitching are good against the pitch. Some of the ones that aren’t, are the power bats that we are fine assuming some risk that comes along with their upside. Andrew McCutchen, Christian Yelich, Luis Urias and Tyrone Taylor are the must plays for me.

Conclusion

I’m going with a full Brewers stack, focused on the righty power bats + Yelich with a double-spend up at pitcher.
