Welcome everyone to Rueb’s Hitter Breakdown! This season I will be going into detail about my favorite hitters on the main slate for each day. If you would like to pick up a Core plays subscription, you can do so here. Let’s get into it!
Studs:
Pete Alonso: The polar bear almost got a hold of one last night for the Mets. Tonight, he is in a great hitters park versus the Phillies #5 Brett Anderson. Anderson has allowed a wOBA of .369 versus right-handed hitting and Pete has a nearly .300 iso versus right-handed pitching. I expect a big day from the Mets.
Christian Yelich: let’s try this again. A great hitting environment combined with a pitcher allowed a .345 wOBA versus lefties should spell success for the Brewers’ former MVP. I am prioritizing Pete so I may not be able to get up to Yelich today, but I really like him.
Value:
Michael Conforto: Conforto feels like a misprice on this slate. Conforto got up to the high 4s, low 5s when he was hot last season. We now get him at 3.7k in a great spot. I expect Conforto to be popular, but he’s a perfect pairing with Pete.
Joey Gallo/David Dahl: The Rangers lefty duo looks like it will be popular today. Roark has always had command and struggles versus lefties. Gallo and Dahl get to hit in the beautiful weather of Globe Life Stadium. During these cold east coast and mid-west months, we want to target Texas’ stadiums.

Mets: Lindor-Conforto-Alonso-Dom Smith
