With The Grain Prop Bet:
Peter Alonso (+400) – New York Mets – 1B
Peter Alonso is on fire to start the 2019 season, hitting 0.122 HR/AB in 13 games. He has a batting average north of .350, 6 home runs, 16 RBIs, and an OPS of 1.33. Sean Newcomb and the Atlanta Braves will look to put an end to his hot streak, but that will be quite the challenge. Newcomb is allowing less than one HR/9, but with the weather looking ideal for home run performances, he will have a bit trickier of a time not allowing the long ball tonight. It is expected to be over 75 degrees, the wind is blowing around 10 MPH out toward left (a right-handed batters’ dream), and the humidity is over 0.5. Alonso, over the last 15 days, has an incredible average batted ball distance of 263 feet. He is trending all over the world right now for his last home run, which has to do wonders for his confidence. His hard hit rate is 60%, and his fly ball rate is 53%. No wonder he is hitting so many moon shots! Continue to ride the Alonso hype-train until the advanced statistics suggest that he lost his ‘mojo’.
Against The Grain Prop Bet:
Jose Ramirez (+300) – Cleveland Indians – 3B
Jose Ramirez gets a matchup from heaven tonight against the Kansas City Royals and Homer Bailey. Bailey currently has a horrendous 1.726 WHIP, and more importantly, he is allowing 2.3 HR/9. Unfortunately, the weather will be a factor in Kansas City, as the wind is blowing in and the temperature is projected under 60 degrees. The moderate humidity will help, though. Ramirez is a switch-hitter, but he has much more power from the left side of the plate, which is where he will be against the right-handed Bailey. His ISO differential is 0.111 against right-handed pitchers. Over the last 15 days, he has an average batted ball distance of 225 feet, his hard hit rate is 41%, and his fly ball rate is 50%. Ramirez recent batted ball luck suggests he is getting wildly unlucky to start the season, so expect his low batting average and lack of home runs to change shortly.
*MyBookie continually updates available prop bets on their prop builder, so odds should be released closer to the start of the contests. If you do not see Peter Alonso or Jose Ramirez available, they will likely become available later in the day, and odds will be updated in the article when that happens.*
