Pitching

We have a small seven game slate on tap tonight, with no pitcher that I would refer to as an ace at any price level. The best overall pitcher on this slate is Shohei Ohtani, who owns a 3.83 SIERA with 31% strikeouts on the season. He still can be considered risky in DFS due to his control, that has been better as of late but can always show up. That being said, he is the best pure pitcher on this slate and has a fantastic match-up with the Colorado Rockies. I pointed out in one of last week’s articles that the Rockies are far and away the worst road offense in baseball, and Ohtani is the top option for me on Monday.

Outside of Ohtani, we have Luis Garcia and German Marquez as other upside plays. Garcia is my favorite as he matches up with the Mariners — and ranks second on this slate with a 30% strikeout rate this season. I want to note that Mike Minor is projected for 30% ownership currently, putting him the third-highest owned pitcher on the slate. Minor is a useful DFS pitcher at times, but he is throwing against the Chicago White Sox. CWS come into tonight’s game with the third-highest wRC+ in baseball vs left-handed pitching (115). They also have the tenth-best team ISO, and are not a good match-up for Minor at all. I will personally be fading him on this slate.

Batters

Speaking of Minor, his high projected ownership has me extremely interested in the White Sox stack. This should be a great leverage play in tournaments if even a quarter of the field is rostering Minor in their SP slot. Pretty much the entire roster hits the ball hard vs southpaws, with Jose Abreu, Andrew Vaughn and Tim Anderson being my top overall options.

Aside from CWS, the Red Sox, Blue Jays and Twins occupy my top stack rankings.
