Kris Bryant has found quite a bit of success recently, posting a .316 average with a .579 slugging percentage and a .960 OPS over his last 10 games. He boasts four extra-base hits (three home runs) and eight RBIs over that span. Surprisingly, Bryant only owns 28% hard hit and 39% fly ball rates with a 90 MPH exit velocity over the last 15 days. With that being said, he gets a plus matchup against Drew Smyly, and enters this game with 0.109 wOBA and 0.118 ISO differentials against left-handed pitching. Bryant is expected to hit third in the Chicago Cubs lineup, and he’ll benefit from playing in an extremely hitter friendly stadium on this slate.
Sonny Gray has been an elite arm this season, and this total is surprisingly low. Overall, he owns a 3.64 xFIP and a 3.97 SIERA through 23 starts. He also boasts 27.9% strikeout and 11% swinging strike rates in 2019. Gray gets a plus matchup against the St. Louis Cardinals, who rank sixth on the slate in strikeouts per at-bat, while also ranking last in team wOBA. St. Louis doesn’t feature an offense that is likely to get to Gray early, and he makes an elite option for another quality start tonight. Overall, Gray has scored 40+ fantasy points in seven of his last eight games, giving him a relatively large cushion in this matchup. Furthermore, he is a -162 favorite in a game set at 9.5 runs tonight.
