Mookie Betts has been struggling a bit recently, posting a .194 average with a .417 slugging percentage and a .786 OPS over his last 10 games. He owns four extra-base hits (two home runs) and four RBIs in those games. While his numbers don’t pop off of the page, he’s still averaging 7.9 fantasy points per game in those contests. Betts is due for a breakout, though, as he has recorded 50% hard hit and 52% fly ball rates with a 94 MPH exit velocity over the last 15 days. He gets a matchup against the Baltimore Orioles, who haven’t named a starter at the moment, but don’t feature any pitchers that would be able to give Betts fits. He’s likely to lead off for the Boston Red Sox, and he’ll be playing in one of the more hitter friendly stadiums in the MLB. Betts has gotten extremely unlucky recently, and he’s due for positive regression.
Francisco Lindor has been playing at an elite level over his last 10 games. Over that span, he has posted a .375 average with a .775 slugging percentage and a 1.194 OPS. He has recorded nine extra-base hits (three home runs), four RBIs, and one stolen base in those games. Furthermore, Lindor has posted 41% hard hit and 33% fly ball rates with a 94 MPH exit velocity over the last 15 days. He gets one of the best matchups on the slate against Ryan Carpenter, who has been one of the worst pitchers in the MLB this season. Lindor has also been at his best against left-handed pitching, as he enters this game with 0.054 wOBA and 0.035 ISO differentials against lefties. He’s leading off for the Cleveland Indians, and Lindor should find plenty of success in this matchup.
