I’m going a bit risky with the bats today, but I feel comfortable with it. Mookie Betts has been playing at a high level recently, as he’s hitting .325 with a .475 slugging percentage and a .901 OPS over his last 10 games. He owns four extra-base hits (one home run), three RBIs, and three steals in those games, as well. Furthermore, Betts is averaging 10.5 fantasy points per game over that span. Surprisingly, he only owns 33% hard hit and 47% fly ball rates with a 90 MPH exit velocity over the last 15 days. Tonight, he gets a plus matchup against Zach Plesac, who will be making his MLB debut. Betts enters this game with 0.031 wOBA and 0.054 ISO differentials against right-handed pitching. He’s also hitting second for one of the best offenses on the slate. Betts’ combination of power and speed gives him multiple avenues to score fantasy points, and he should see plenty of RBI and run opportunities in this matchup.
Tommy Pham has also been heating up recently, posting a .333 average with a .667 slugging percentage and a 1.083 OPS over his last 10 games. He has recorded eight extra-base hits (three home runs) and eight RBIs over that span, as well. Pham is averaging a healthy 11.3 fantasy points per game in those contests. He also enters this game with a 66% hard hit rate and a 98 MPH exit velocity over the last 15 days. He gets a plus matchup against Clayton Richard, and Pham will be playing at home, where he has been a more consistent and more powerful option. He also comes with speed, although the hasn’t flashed that recently. Similarly to Betts, Pham can score fantasy points in multiple ways, and even at the high total, I’m leaning over in this matchup.
