George Springer has been one of the best hitters in the MLB over his last 10 games. Over that span, he’s hitting for a .462 average with a .974 slugging percentage and a 1.474 OPS. He owns 8 extra-base hits (6 home runs), 13 RBIs, and 1 steal over that span, as well. Furthermore, Springer has posted 47% hard hit and 32% fly ball rates with a 94 MPH exit velocity over the last 15 days. He gets a tough matchup against Matt Boyd, but Springer owns a career .281 average with a .530 slugging percentage and a .249 ISO against left-handed pitching. He’s leading off for one of the best offenses in the MLB, and he has scored 8+ fantasy points in eight of his last nine games. Overall, he’s averaging a ridiculous 18.4 fantasy points per game over that span, and I’m willing to take a shot on arguably the hottest hitter in the MLB right now.
Shane Bieber has seen a few ups and downs this season, posting a 2-1 record with a 3.32 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP through eight games (seven starts). He also enters this game with a 3.99 xFIP and a 3.75 SIERA. Bieber’s fly ball rate is up to 42.1%, while his HR/FB rate sits around his career average at 12.5%. He has also allowed a 43.1% hard hit rate in 2019. With that being said, he owns 26.8% strikeout and 12.3% swinging strike rates. He has also scored 36+ fantasy points in five of his seven starts, failing to do so only against the Chicago White Sox and Atlanta Braves. He gets a rematch against the White Sox, who rank second on the slate in strikeouts per at-bat, while also ranking in the bottom-four in team wOBA. Bieber has consistently been picking up quality starts this season, and he’s a -143 favorite in a game set at 8.5 runs. He doesn’t necessarily need the win to his the over, but his Vegas line locks him into this play tonight.
