Joey Gallo hasn’t been the most consistent player in the MLB, posting only a .189 average through 11 games. With that being said, he continues to display elite power, recording a .541 slugging percentage on the season. Over 50% of his hits have been home runs, and he has been seeing the ball well recently. Gallo owns 68% hard-hit and 36% fly ball rates with a 99 mph exit velocity over the last 15 days. He also gets a plus matchup against Mike Fiers in a hitter friendly stadium. Gallo has his 73.9% of his career home runs against right-handed pitching, and he has also hit 55.4% of his home runs at home. While he doesn’t necessarily need a home run to hit the over in this prop, the metrics line up extremely well for him to find his power tonight.
Jung-Ho Kang has struggled early this season, as he’s hitting only .121 with a .273 slugging percentage and a .489 OPS through 11 games. He has also scored two or fewer fantasy points in each of his last five games. On the season, Kang owns 19% hard-hit and 42% ground ball rates with an 87 mph exit velocity. He also gets a terrible matchup against Patrick Corbin, and Kang owns a career .222 average against lefties. He has also seen his career slugging percentage, OPS, and ISO drop against left-handed pitching. While Kang could potentially luck his way into five fantasy points, that isn’t he most likely scenario. This is a tough matchup, and he could be in line for another scoreless night.
